Libby Purves presents this week's edition of the Learning Curve
Meares-Irlen syndrome:
When some children read, the words on the page start to move around. Using different coloured overlays over the text has been found to make the words stay still. Katy Hickman visits Norwich and talks to Liz Ashby from the Sensory Support Unit about her work in schools.
Professor Arnold Wilkins, Head of the Visual Perception unit at Essex University talks to Libby about Meares-Irlen syndrome.
Unions:
College and university teacher's unions are poised to merge into one superunion. What impact will that have on vocational training? Libby talks to Prof Richard Pring Department of Educational Studies at Oxford and Dennis Hayes, vice president of NATFHE , about the possible ramifications.
