Ever since Noah and Whale brought out L.I.F.E.G.O.E.S.O.N we've had folk suggesting we do spelling as a themes so look out your dictionary and settle down for the Friday night spelling

Well it wasn't trendy or cool and it certainly wasn't a show for chilling out, but boy did you love the classic rock theme tonight. We were inundated with suggestions and could have happily kept the theme going for another two hours with all the tunes we had to leave out. I can see this being a repeat theme sooner rather than later.
Last Wednesday we did 'born too late' as a theme which was the songs you wish you had been around to enjoy at the time. Tomorrow we are going to do the opposite which I suppose you could call, 'Born too soon'. Do you wish Justin Beiber had been around when you were a kid? ( OK, I know the answer to that one!) Are you a middle aged lady who would love to hang out with The Phantom Band? Or an older bloke who's just got into Bruno Mars? Are you in your thirties but share your musical taste with teenagers? This is going to be the show for you.It promises to be two hours of wonderfully inappropriate music so don't be shy about getting in touch with the songs that make you wish you were young again...

Tuesday's theme is quite simply, classic rock. We'll feature tunes from as many of the great rock bands as possible and as well as the crowd pleasers it would be great to get one or two surprises in there. To illustrate this theme I've posted a document from the 成人快手 archive referring to Led Zeppelin: It's an audition panel report dated 22nd April 1969, and relates to a show called which was broadcast on the 成人快手 Light programme in the sixties.
Alison Craig is dumped and defiant on tomorrow's show! Get in touch with your suggestions of the songs that say so long sucker I'm moving on. It's the tracks where the artist gets their own back and lets their former lover know that they are not needed any longer. Let Alison know what you fancy hearing then...

If it wasn't for the fact that I also played Doris Day then you could be forgiven for thinking you were listening to Radio 1! Just when I was worried about turning to David Jacobs I turn into Greg James instead.
Wednesday's theme will have the opposite effect. It's 'born too late' and is all about the songs you missed out on because you were too young. Were you a nineties chick who would have loved to be a punk? A child of the eighties who wanted to be a hippy? Or were you like me, born in the sixties but love to listen to depressing country music from the forties and fifties? (OK, the last one is a bit unlikely but you get what I mean!)
There are some riffs that once they have been implanted in your brain you just can't get them out. I always get home after the show with at least one tune that I end up humming for the rest of the night. Annoyingly Friday's was the wedding of Jock McKay but I'm hoping tonight's will be something more mellow like Mumford or Love and Money.
On Tuesday we will be doing a full show of the riffs that you can't stop singing. We'll feature the annoying ones as well as the classics that are so well written that you can't resist them. Hooked on hooks as it were...
There were some very funny songs suggested tonight including a few that I hadn't heard in years and made me laugh much more than I thought they would. Patricia The Stripper was a sing-along hit from start to finish and much to my embarrassment Miss Babs did her own very personal interpretation of the track. The photo above shows the actual moment when the cardigan came off!
I'm writing this on Friday night just before the end of the show so there's no point in me trying to predict what the weather will be n Monday, so we are doing four seasons in one show.
Val Doonican, Thora Hird and Mona Lisa were just some of the names 'dropped' in tonight's theme of 'celebs mentioned in song'. It's a theme we've done a couple of times before and it's always popular. We were out the door with good suggestions tonight.
Friday is so our theme is a no holds barred two hours of fun,fun,fun. I'm looking for your suggestions of the funniest, silliest and wackiest songs of all time. I suspect all of our credibility will go out the window but it is for Comic Relief and it is only for one night so I'm not too bothered about that!

I'm sure there are a lot of people who will have nightmares after hearing tonight's show. Creepy love songs certainly freaked me out and I now have images of Dr Hook in my head that I could do without! Bleugh....

Wednesday night's theme could end up being a bit sinister. I'm looking for your suggestions of the pop stars who get a bit too close for comfort. From One Way Or Another to Every Breath You Take, it's the songs of love that are freak you out just a little bit!
I found a website called 'Ten love songs that sound like stalkers' which was a revelation. When you see songs like Hopelessly Devoted To You written down you realise that the lyrics have a creepy intensity that doesn't really come over in Olivia Newton John's version. The worst offender is Barry Manilow's Can't Smile Without You. Try reading the lyrics for that chorus and not feeling like you want to double lock your door!
Vomiting babies, 100 day bike rides, weddings and foxes' poo! We certainly covered a lot on tonight's show. Thanks to all who got in touch with the songs that best described their day.
Tomorrow night is a much more 'blog friendly' theme. We're looking for your suggestions of the best double albums of all time. We'll accept live or greatest hits albums but it would be good to get plenty of suggestions for those artists who were so prolific that they couldn't contain their talent on one album...
It's been a good week of themes with Wednesday's 'songs that require a follow up' being a stand out for me. 'Strong women' was also a popular one but I found 'bad grammar' a real challenge. I suspect it's partly because my own grammar is pretty appalling!
Monday's theme is a difficult one if you like to post your suggestions over the weekend. That's because I'm asking you to come up with the track that describes the kind of day you've just had. In other words, it's the songs that sum up your Monday.

On Friday's show I hope to be playing Nothing Compares with You, Julio and I Down By the Schoolyard and Lie Down Sally? Well that's what they should have been called if their authors had been grammatically correct. But it's rock n' roll so surely we don't need to worry about stuff like that, or do we? The theme is bad grammar in songs and it's bound to be a pedant's dream come true. I'm looking forward to receiving your suggestions and if there's a misplaced apostrophe in the paragraph above then I'm sure you'll only be too happy to bring it to my attention. Tonight's brilliant theme of 'songs that require a follow up' threw up many unanswered questions such as:
What happened when Ruby took her love to town?
Was there a riot?
So who shot the deputy?
Did they meet up in the year 2000?
Did they ever get their letter from America?
Is she really STILL going out with him?
However, I think my favourite was Ken in North Carolina's probing question, "Who had the nasty job of cleaning up on the tragic day when it was raining men?"
It's been a really enjoyable show so thanks to everyone who got in touch on Facebook,text and on the blog - We all love DC's idea of prequels which is mentioned elsewhere on this page.
Thursday's theme is memory so it's songs about remembering and forgetting please....

On Tuesday night we will be celebrating 100 years of International Women's Day. Later in the night, , Mary Ann Kennedy presents a special edition of her show live from Studio One at 成人快手 Scotland's headquarters at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. Senegalese superstar Baaba Maal talks about his work with Women of the World, the incredibly talented singer songwriter Karine Polwart performs live in studio and there's music from a fantastic all-female band, The Shee, who combine folk, Scots, Gaelic and bluegrass.
We'll also be marking International Women's Day with a show featuring inspirational and important women in music. There's also the opportunity to suggest song with a strong message. Dom, who worked up tonight's theme came up with a few xamples: "Wannabe by Spice Girls - It's easy to criticize however the spice girls have been credited as starting the girl power movement in the 1990's. I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor - The classic post break up song. Other examples could be "On a Mission" by "Gabriella Cilmi", Respect by "Aretha Franklin", Gabriel "Dreams", Des'ree "You Gotta Be", Britney Spears "Stronger" and so on."

I have been banned from contributing to Friday night's Get It On. The theme is 'bath time favourites' and my bath time selections consists largely of very depressing singer songwriters and a couple of petrol station compilations along the lines of 'the most relaxing classical music of all time' and 'classical music from the adverts'. Not great raw materials for a top show!
Mind you we did play one of my bath time faves on tonight's show which was Czars covering Angel Eyes from their excellent album of covers, Sorry I Made You Cry. ( See I wasn't exaggerating when I said they were depressing!)

Tonight's tracklisting makes for some pretty depressing reading but the show wasn't anything like that. In fact it was a great laugh. Thanks to everyone who contributed. If you've got an acoustic guitar kicking about the house then dig it out for Thursday's show. The theme is acoustic guitars and although I'm happy to play unplugged songs I'm really interested in the bands who incorporate acoustic guitars into 'normal' songs. Our Scottish connections theme brought out some clever suggestions. We had Emmylou Harris, Huey Lewis and loads for the band Stornoway. The Tubes were requested for the inventor of the pneumatic tyre, Steam was played for James Watt but it was the puns that I particularly enjoyed. For artists we had suggestions for Crystal Gael and Cuillin The Gang and here鈥檚 just some of the very funny song titles you asked for:

Tomorrow might sound like an excuse for me to play back to back Morrissey but it wasn鈥檛 even my idea I promise. It鈥檚 鈥榓rtists feeling a bit sorry for themselves鈥 so could include things like Poor, Poor Pitiful Me or Victim Of Love. Although if they are like that then Make Me Smile(Come Up and See Me) will be needed before eight o鈥 clock.
