There is some irony in Miss B's choice of concept albums as a theme as it is difficult to imagine her delightful, infectious laughter containing itself for the duration of a two minute track never mind the required 40 or more minutes.

However, having made the acquaintance of Highland Breweries' excellent Old Norway earlier this evening, I am in a position to inform you that there is no such thing as a concept album, just a pretentious collection of tunes strung together on some tenuous after-the-fact premise.

Pop music is about two minute singles that make you want to dance, not think. So play There She Goes by the La's, Shake Some Action by The Groovies or Dirty Water by The Standells or, even better, all three and ignore the dreadful mince listed above.

Apart from the Denny Laine hit 'Go Now', the entire canon of work by The Moody Blues is one rolling 'concept' album (though our faither is quite right). In amongst all the mumbo jumbo and cod poetry are some really good tunes, well played.

Similarly guilty is White Album engineer, Alan Parsons, and from 'I Robot' comes the delightfully ironic hymn Don't Let It Show - the Alan Parsons Project.

And then, there's that monster 'Tales' from Yes ..... Nous Sommes du Soliel anyone?

I believe the Cee Lo Green album The Lady Killer is supposed to be a concept album, similar to the Plan B pastiche soul model - though some of it is quite morbid and sinister sounding (if I remember correctly). Anyway, it has a couple of good tracks, of which this is one.
