Here is an odd thing with the digital / cd age. A lot of what were double lp,s are now of course single cd's. But the converse is also true. A lot of single cd releases appear on double vinyl. Possibly for a lot of the younger listeners this will be an odd concept as for download lp's there is no side a, b let alone sides 1 to 4!

A lot of single lp's have been massively extended as well to be double cd's but they were only single lp's to start with.

Help.

On a slightly different note one of the most classic double albums is Benny Goodman Live at Carnegie Hall (1938) - I would recommend one of the trio numbers "Body and Soul"
or, something from The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band "Will the circle be unbroken" such as "Cannonball Rag"

I guess you won't be playing Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun any time soon so how about White Room which features Clapton soon after he discovered the wah wah pedal - lovely. He introduced hendrix to the pedal and look what happened next...
btw Wheels of Fire was first double album to go platinum, so it must deserve a spot....

Bought that album before the sixth year disco when they were still called sixth year discos cos a steely dan tribute band were playing

will there be a triple album theme or could the Band's Last Waltz make it on to this show? Great film, great concert. The historic track to play would be I Shall be Released, which featured everybody who was anybody.

On CD a great double I have is The Who, Live at Leeds. Sadly I seem to play it only when a bit the worse for wear, new copy required. So the standout version of Pinball Wizard would be a treat

I've got the original with nudes in the attic (Wikip says: '(Hendrix)...expressly asked for a color photo by Linda Eastman of the group sitting with children on a sculpture from Alice in Wonderland in Central Park, NY, even drawing a picture of it for reference'. Instead 'Track Records...produced a cover depicting 19 nude women lounging in front of a black background'. Oh, well..

Come On (Part 1). Not enough of hendrix solos on his albums so this is great.

I also had 'Wheels Of Fire' - Cream - Deserted Cities Of the Heart Jack Bruce did a latin influenced White Room at the Arches the other week, which, again, with the brass section, sounded fabby.

I did not have the Steely Dan Double Greatest Hits, but later got Here In The Western World on the 4 CD compilation 'Citizen' - which I love.

I think the 'Nice Enough To Eat' sampler was a double album - anyway, the one I had had 'Song For Suzie - Heads Hands & Feet on it. Great Track.

After our faither requested them a few weeks ago I 'one clicked' their album 'Tracks' on amazon. Absolutely brilliant - 'the albums of forgotten song' as my hero put it.
