Cai's a grown man now...
Cai's not a top student, or a top sportsman or a top anything really. Brains-wise he's always been overshadowed by his little cousin Jake. But Cai always had the consolation of knowing that he was bigger and older and richer. His parents might row, but they were still together and, until recently, they'd been comfortably off as long as Cai could remember.
But in Cai's search for attention is Series 4, he took quite a few false steps. He failed to get his dad's approval on the rugby field and just because he late-tackled that little pain, Jake, his Nan and Auntie Ceri had a go at him (but at least Dad stood up for him). When he tried to get Dad's approval by copying his homophobia, he found that was wrong too and ended up having to pay for the damage he did to Owen's car.
In series 5, Cai grew up and left petty jealousy of Jake behind. Jake's a little boy, but Cai's a man with a girlfriend with whom he joyously lost his virginity. He also discovered the joys of self employment as he first earns money washing cars but then takes up more lucrative cigarette selling for Des.
He and Stacey are totally in lust and he had a great time with her. It's lucky that one good thing happened because everything else is bad - his family disintegrated and no one told him why.
In series 6, Cai's world was turned upside down - Stacey's pregnant! Cai's going to be a dad at fifteen years old. Instead of running away from his responsibilities, Cai insists on standing by Stacey, despite Ruth trying her hardest to persuade him otherwise.
Cai woos Stacey back with a show of determination, proving he's a reliable Lewis man through and through. He moves in with Stacey at the Wheeler home and at the start of Series 7, he's looking forward to fatherhood in typical Cai fashion - calm resolve. He's going to get an apprenticeship, leave school, support his own family. But Cai has no idea just how hard being a father is going to turn out to be...
