Where is she now?
Has left to live in Spain with her partner Gordon.
Barb never felt sorry for herself and prided herself on being the life and soul of any party. She married twice, but both husbands died, leaving her some money, but no babies.
Before marrying, Barbara had been a filing clerk in the council offices. She then used these organisational skills to run a catalogue and her infamous Ann Summers parties.
Barb once had hopes for Will in Series 2, but those were cruelly dashed. Her hopes for Will also put into temporary jeopardy her friendship with Margaret. Fortunately, she got over Will and renewed her friendship with Margaret - after all, it'll take more than a mere man to crush Barb's spirit.
Barb found herself needing Margaret's friendship more than ever when a niggling cough was diagnosed as throat cancer. She faced up bravely to her cancer treatment, which included a partial laryngectomy, but giving up smoking was a real trial for life-long nicotine addict Barb.
Trying to avoid Will's company got harder when he moved up the road to live with Vanessa. She'd been very grateful for Margaret's help and support but when she met Gordon at a Spiritualist Church meeting, there was suddenly someone else in her life who wanted to help her get better.
Barb found herself torn between having fun with slightly eccentric Gordon who offered romance as well as friendship, and spending quiet time at home with old friend Margaret. Although aware that Margaret was feeling down, she couldn't resist the lure of romance with her exciting new friend.
After coming to terms with Margaret's death she married Gordon and left to spend some quality time together away from it all in Spain.
