Welcoming Bonnie

Well, the news is that my Aunty in Lancashire has managed to 'adopt' a new puppy dog which they have named Bonnie. I haven't had chance to see her yet (not even a photo) but by all accounts she looks more like a tiger than a dog - very curious. I am sure we will become great pals and she will look up to me, what with me being the more superior, distinguished dog in the family. Hopefully my Mum will be able to get a photo of her when she visits them this weekend.

I am not going visiting with her - she is off on her travels to the Emerald Isle again for a few days which means Dad and me will do a bit of male bonding - no more Coronation Street on our telly for a couple of weeks!

Mum has been quite good to me over the last few weeks - we have been going on some long walks. We even managed to walk from our house to the ferry and back which is quite an achievement for her (she is getting on a bit now you know!). The weather was glorious all last week so we made the best of it. On Saturday I had a great time running around. We were just walking back towards Cullipool on a road called the Dubh Litir (spelling might not be right - but then I am a dog after all and this doesn't come naturally to me!) when I got on the scent of something. It turned out to be a couple of deer which took off with me in hot pursuit. Of course I didn't get anywhere near them, but I did try my hardest. Finally made my way back to Mum where I collapsed in a heap at the side of the road - I have never been so tired. Soon recovered though and was raring to go again. Fingal's Mum was out looking for him as well - seems I am not the only dog to go AWOL now and again. She eventually found him playing with another of his pals - go Fingal!

Seems like we have had a lot of humans around this weekend - I heard my Mum and Dad saying that there were a couple of events on. There was a boat muster in Toberonochy and a geopoetics weekend in Cullipool. Both had various activities that both visitors and islanders could join in. By the sounds of things both events were well attended. By today most of the visitors will have gone and we will be back to some peace and quiet for a few weeks.

We had a lovely run out in the car on Sunday. We now have our summer sailings which means the car ferry runs in place of the passenger one. Which means we can go off the island by car on Sundays. We went to Dalmally then took the Glen Orchy road, then drove down Glen Etive before going through Glen Coe then back to Oban. It was quite showery but we still managed a walk towards Loch Etive and my Mum and Dad kept throwing sticks for me to chase - I really love that game.

Oh and before I go - do you know what they did last week. They forgot to feed me my supper on Friday night! Too busy feeding themselves to look after me. Of course I didn't make a fuss but they sure looked guilty on Saturday when they discovered their mistake. Got some lovely meals to make up for it. I am sure I will be able to milk this one for a bit longer. Just give them one of my "I'm starving" looks and they look after me in double quick time!

It's been a while....

It's been a few weeks since I last updated my blog. Life has been pretty quiet recently. My mum was away for a couple of weeks and paid a visit to my aunty and grandma and saw their new dog Bonnie (I will try and attach a photo of Bonnie to this blog). Whilst she was away I had a great time with Dad, helping him at work and making him take long walks with me.

I have had a sore paw for a few days. It gets a bit stiff after I have been running around too much but I can't help myself. There are loads of little birds flying along the shore that just ask to be chased and of course I oblige, so I run and run and run... I have been trying to rest up for a few days to give the paw a chance to get better.

I helped my mum unwrap some parcels last week - it was her birthday so she was munching away on cake most of the time. Don't know how old she is but I think she is probably getting on a bit now.

I have had a few outings on dad's boat but I don't like it when the boat starts to rock from side to side. I have to sit on Dad's chair when this happens and he gives me a cuddle - either that or try and get underneath the front bunk on the boat. I have decided I am definitely a fair weather sailor.

Was a bit of a wimp last week when they took me to see the vet for my annual booster. They have to put a muzzle on me because I get very nervous and have already threatened to take a chunk out of one of them. I can't bear having my injection and it takes both dad and the vet all their strength to hold onto me in order to do the deadly deed. I even start to cry before they come anywhere near me with the needle - I'm not ashamed to say that I am very frightened of the vet. Glad I don't have to go very often.

It's a wet day today so I am a bit fed up. Think I will go and bother mum and ask her to take me out for a walk.

Catch up with you all later
