How I Start Each Day
The night before I set my clock to mark the place it time
The point of when I must get up and start the daily grind
听
I fall asleep in hope that maybe night time brings me rest
Yet all along I know the next day comes and so the test
听
It starts at 6 the alarm bell sounds but I will not get up
I stretch my arm to touch the ground where sits my little clock
听
I stop the sound and drifting back to sleep with thoughts in mind
I know that even though I sleep the bell will soon remind
听
So yet again it sounds its noise I struggle to my side
With one arm bent at elbow I will lift my head inclined
听
My partner always up before me serves my cup of tea
It's then I try to look alive and try to show I'm pleased
听
With rhythmic motions of my eyes I check my watch for time
Each minute that goes ticking by is stretched within my mind
听
I take some pills to dull the pain or maybe dull my thoughts
Then standing up I step into the corporate suite I bought
听
With trousers on and top half bare I reach the bedroom door
Then walking down the landing hall with carpet covered floor
听
The bathroom, ahh a place of light that tells me how to be
The mirror leads my mind to think what others want to see
听
A place to brush my hair and teeth to rearrange my face
A place of great importance when I need to run in hast!
听
Ok, I now descend the stairs and head towards the door
A porthole to the world outside to find out what's in store
听
I reach the car and sort of drop inside with words like 鈥渄amn!鈥
The kind of things old people say, you said you won't become
听
It's then you realise the very thing that drives you mad
That annoying deaf and stupid thing you know, your mum and dad
听
So after you have weaved your way through jams of car filled kids
You kept your cool and stayed quite calm and didn't flip your lid
听
Just then some stupid woman with a giant lolly pop
Jumps out between the cars and drives the traffic to a stop
听
The kids now cross the road and seem to notice how you feel
They watch your hand begin to squeeze and grip your steering wheel
听
At last you reach your work the place that caused you all this stress
This is the place they say's the reason why you're so depressed.
听
Its also where the money comes to pay off all the bills
That reminds me on my lunch to buy another pack of pills
听
I set my brief case on the desk, switch on my PC too
Displayed are things from yesterday the things I didn't do
听
And why then is it that I do each day all that I've said
Well maybe it's with all this crap I know we can't be dead!
