We have had visitors this week. My mum's friend, Steff, came up to stay for a few days and brought her cocker spaniel, Jenny, with her. What a bossy-boots she was. She saunters into MY house and steals MY bone and plays with MY toys and then snaps at me if I so much as look at her. I don't know what she imagined I was going to do to her but she should be so lucky! Anyway she ruled the roost completely. I was a very well behaved dog and just let her get on with it - you see I can be good when I want to be!
They arrived Sunday and on Monday we went for a walk in the rain. It absolutely poured down and we all got really wet (which was great fun). Jenny had to stay on her lead as her Mum didn't trust her not to run away. I got to splash in all the puddles and the ditches and generally show off! Jenny and I had a bit of an argument over some crisps - she definitely didn't want me to get anything.
The next day the weather was a bit better and I got to go for a paddle in the sea. I love chasing stones into the sea when Mum throws them for me. I was almost as wet as Monday! Jenny tried to put a paw into the sea but she wimped out - these towny dogs!
Wednesday was a walk over to Ardinamir. It was lovely and sunny. We had seen some tourists on the way from home who had two doggie friends with them. The humans were a bit over-protective and lifted up one of the dogs. As if I was going to eat a fellow dog - honestly. Anyway, when we were on the road to Ardinamir I spotted these people having a rest on the hill and so I thought I would make friends. They didn't seem to appreciate that I bounded through bogs to get to them. The male human kept saying 'go away' which, as you all know, means hang around here and enjoy our company! So I did. Eventually I gave in to Mum shouting for me and bounded back towards them through as much water and mud as I could find - great stuff. And then.... just when I thought the walk was going to become dull... a hare jumped out in front of me so I went chasing off after that. Didn't catch it (didn't want to actually as now I am on my best behaviour!). Finally came back to Mum, Steff and Jenny and they put me on the lead, but I was a bit cream-crackered after all the running.
Then yesterday, bliss, Jenny finally went home - I can stretch out on the couch again, play with my toys, eat my dinner when I want, great stuff! It was really nice to have our visitors but Jenny needs to learn that I am king of the castle around here. Today it is a glorious day - Mum and me have just been for a stroll to the shop. She got an ice-cream and let me finish it off which was lovely. I have had a few paddles along the way home and thought I would just update my blog whilst she is downstairs having her dinner. Don't know where my dad is these days - he goes out every morning saying what a great time he is having being dog-free. I am sure Mum will be on her travels again soon and I can be with him again - I miss him!
Catch up with you all soon!

NICE dog. Expressive eyes. A tartan pattern for the collar: must be Scot. The other one has a red collar: is that ALSO a political statement? IBHQ must be sleeping on the job (or at least taking a tea break).

Hi Coco
You sound as if life is fun on the Island of Luing. Our mum and dad are looking to move there if possible when dad retires. Mum really wants to come and live there now and has seen a property in Toberonochy she would like to inspect. Dad says we can't as he has to work for another 5 years. We are border collie brothers and are now 8 years old. We like the sound that there may be sheep around. Unfortunately we are kept on a tight leash as our instincts tend to run away with us. We do behave as we have been well trained and our mum has a friend who is a behaviour therapist. We also like fun times and you sound like a fun dog. Do try and stay good for your own sake.
Bye for now

Hello everyone, thanks for the lovely comments. Especially thanks to Barney and Charlie - tell your Mum and Dad that the sooner the better as far as coming to Luing is concerned. It is a fab place for all us dogs (and their humans) to live and it would be great to have some more pals down that end of the island.
Rusty - I await your blog - saw you over at your Grannies the other day but Mum wouldn't let me come over to say hello!

By the way... The photos on my most recent blogs - the humans are my Dad and Steff and Jenny (well Jenny isn't a human but you know what I mean!)

Rusty, perhaps you could get your mum to email me at islandblogging@bbc.co.uk so we can try to figure out what the problem is? Hopefully we'll have her blogging in no time!
