Off Again!

The year 2006 has left the starting post, and may I therfore, wish all you good bloggers, A Happy New Year, and may this one be somewhat pleasanter than the last, when so much focused on natural disasters and terrorisim, and war and the results of it, also, don't seem to be far away.I can't help thinking that since the terrifying 9-11 incident in America there seems to have been a downward trend in the stability of the world.

I wouldn't like to forecast regarding the future, but when I think of Scotland,I would like our new parliament make a genuine impression to the furthest corners of the world.

I believe I am right in saying this ; Scotland as far as renewable energy is concerned has made impressive progress. May we also, in the future, make further advancement in the other aspects of natural energy: wave power; solar energy and the use of biomass to boost our clean energy requirements..

I have made it clear in the past that I support wind turbines, but at the same time I wouldn't advocate over devolepment in this direction.

And might I end with this passing thought, I'm still not satisfied with the tought of a new phase of nuclear power stations being developed and brought into production.

The Weather, Climate Change and a Marine Park.

We are now into the second week of the new year, and I'm sure, like me that some of you are wondering where does the time go!!! With the unclement weather we've been having lately. surely there would be nothing wrong with looking forward a bit in speculation of the summer season as at one time it was expected to make up for a bad winter, but it looks as if this is not the case these days. I had a conversation with a friend recently who also remembered the years of the past; in this case , the fifties. He was, like me, quite adamant that the weather was definately more normal in those days- frost and snow at the expected time; less rain and good days in between.

Have any of you, my fellow bloggers, seen brilliant sunshine when the ground was covered in snow? I'm certainlynot tongue in cheek about it- but I'm just wondering? There are more instances that I could bring to the surface but may these snippets suffice meantime.

Now to refer to ANNE from MULL, who seems a little fed up with references to Climate Change but is instead looking forward to a Marine Park(National) proposed for our part of the world. A good idea I'd say!!! Although it seems a huge area to keep under observation.

In closing as regards Climate Change, have the scientists made some sort of a mistake as regards their predictions, and are we being misled by their belief in science to come up with the answers to the problem. As far as I am concerned, I must reconsider the situation concerning who I am to believe; those for or against.

ThePast & The Present Considered.

To-day we're into the third week of January 2006. This is a time when one is liable to look back at the past and maybe speculate regarding the future. It seems that if one doesn't glance well behind all that is near hand can have a rather depressing hue. I must say that my younger days were definately of a happier shade than of now. I don't believe this has something to do with my age.

I am convinced that the weather has detioratied considerably and all that one would deem to be a sign points to this. Climate Change the heading we are faced with and indeed a noticable part of present day conversations relative to the enviornment.

I am wondering what are we lesser human-beings expected to do? Do we go by what the top brass say or by what the general public bring into dispute. Or do we just go by our own little hunches.

As regards the weather, my hunch is, that it has changed, but does this have anything to do with the Climate Change as scientificially explained to us. Well again, I have a hunch that it has.

Without going into the details that I don't have anyway, I'd look back beyond the ninethieth century and mention pollution; then look forward to the twenty first century and mention again pollution. The question is- has the atmosphere an unending resourcefulness for absorbing dirt, without further trace over a long period of time.
