Poetry translation

Gaelic poetry of 30th June-translation:-

THE TIE

We will sail across the ocean
Well known to us
Where we'll see our kindred
Waiting paitently
There will be much merriment
And songs.

We would not desire to be astray
When our native land is near
Our relatives and friends close by
And each neighbour will meet us
Ready with a welcome:
Stories told in gaelic are splendid.

The day's occupation is tiresome
But evening brings submission:
There will be reels and music
Through the night
The youths well groomed
And the girls absolutely pretty.

Each joy will just last so briefly
And the holidays will suddenly end:
Parting with each other
Won't be a simple matter
But there are promises in each reckoning
Spoken in good hope
And a caution to our friends
Not to forsake us.

Blogging again!

Haven't blogged for a while...was on a psychological low...the notion to write is on me again, though!Maybe the awful summer weather had something to do with my dip?
Last sunday I went to Oban, returning on tuesday. Going through the sound of Mull is an ever fresh experience;the sea and the hills are never the same; is it something to do with the density of the light,or something like that?
Now to go back to the subject of wind farms and their effect on the enviornment,my view is that the hills on each side of the sound are completely lifeless except for some forestery plantations.
This country side although exceedingly beautiful, lacks any appearance of progress.I am sure that like many others that I feel:These hills have got to be made alive.In spite the enviornmentalist desire for pristine wide open spaces without mankinds basic requirements being duly considered.

Thanks PONDHEAD - Renewal energy &Wind farms

PONDHEAD thanks for being concerned about my health - so kind.
Pondhead has from time to time blogged on renewable energy etc.

Renewable energy and wind farms is a big issue these days - much discussions and politicans jabbering.
The highlands of Scotland have come into the forefront of various deliberations again - on the one hand the yes'es and then the no's. The no's being usually those who would keep the highlands completely on the picture postcards to appease an industry that just awakens once every year. It has done so for over a hundered years now!
In the year 2004 we want the hope of something more: jobs & cheap electricity for a start,I hope.
We don't want our little villages just to be pretty but alive and vibrant again.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

As the debate goes on,may I try this blog:
It has just come to my attention that there are an exceeding large number of Necular Powered Stations in the UK. I believe that in Scotland there are only two.
Many Power Stations are almost obselete. This country requires large amounts of electricity and, in the future, even more. Bigger and better Power plants could be the answer - and they would be able to meet the demand - I'm quite sure of that; but what will the long term cost be; I really dread to think what the outcome could well be. I am still to be convinced how advanced the scientists are as regards atomic power.
It is possible that they have caught the tiger by the tail, but does the tiger only slumber. Is there a great risk that we could reap a terrible cost now and the future.

Acknowledgments

My last two blogs have resulted in a number of comments - good stuff!!!
I intend to see somehow that they are acknowledged even if it means incorperating this in my thoughts occurring in the process of blogging - whenever. I feel that to deal with every individual comment is not going to be the best and most appropriate direction to reach the attention of all concerned.
My sincere thanks to all those who particapeted in giving their thoughts regarding my reflections relative to renewble energy etc.I have been given a tremendous amount to make me think anew:-

RENEWABLE ENERGY

The debate goes on, and is ever new. Some say we can't have wind farms, because we don't need them.
Well if we want to go to a source of authority, the scottish Executive and the Westminster Government; they tell us that we do.The country demands a big boost in the amount of electricity required till at least the year 2020.Wind mill production is at the moment the only way of obtaining this.
Although I am on the side of wind farms, I trust that the governments will not allow the provision of such to go completle out of proportion; and that they keep to their envisaged tolerable amount.
In closing this blog, I would say that the country must do its part towards pollution. The argument that America is out of order doesn't hold any water;it is a matter of every little bit counts.
