Greetings - I have just registered with Island blogging.

From now on I hope to be meeting and sharing with other bloggers.Unfortunately I am a late starter but I hope that there is still much to draw on from the deep well of life's happenings.I have much to learn about this new art of blogging and I am ever so keen to get the hang of it.

What I have got to offer: stories about island life, poetry (both, gaelic and english)And I would hope some articles written in the old language for its remaining supporters in blogging.

I look forward to meeting you other Island Bloggers very soon.

ISLAND WANDERER.

Failte Island Wanderer! You're never too late.

Mike from Glasgow

Welcome Island Wanderer. You may be new to this lark - but don't worry, not only will you soon get the hang of it, but you'll probably end up being a bit addicted to it like the rest of us

I look forward to hearing some of your stories about Island life and also to reading, once again, your excellent poetry Alex.

Free

Running,running around the tree,
I won't fall and scrape my knee.
I like the wind that follows me.
I'm happy as I can be.
When your two and like to flee.
That is when you are truly free.

Poet,

Failte! I'm new too!Only I'm tone deaf, have no language skills - just trying to learn some basic Gaelic!
But the isles excite the soul - over 30 years ago I, a long term visitor to Scotland, got my first real taste of the islands and since then there's been a restlessness of my heart/soul. It doesn't let you go - even after six months where weather was indescribable; where you had no modern conveniences; where you killed, skinned and prepared the food at your table, felt sick and were so ravenous you ate it! And even then, the isles inveigle their existence and being into the blood.
I'm not being romantic - it is actually sometime frightening. But compulsive. I'm addicted to my view of the elements, to the stunning sense of time and how very, very little it matters to the long line of existence.
