Nope - it depends on how you see it - in some cultures death is not a time for grieving, but for the celebration of a life that has graduated to something better than this mortal coil.

I kinda hope that is true. To me, the miraculous idea that you could be born twice or recurrently is less extraordinary than the miracle that you were born at all, but who knows? That this should have come up at Easter is coincidental, so it's maybe on people's minds.

It has been the habit of this blog to record the passing of musical folks since before I first posted, though I started to record them after GIO turned the show upside down because Malcolm McLaren died, as though it was a national disaster, whilst unlikndly ignoring many other passing artists, like Lesley Duncan and more recently Bert Janch. I think if they are going to do that, it should at least be consistent.

So, that's where I come from.

I really think there is some connection between 'nights in white satin' and 'Spirits in the night' ( the cover version by Manfred MANN's EARTH BAND) because the second almost has the same slow rhythm of the first.
Other suggestions: 'Knights in shining karma' by XTC.... or 'Man in a long black coat' by Joan OSBOURNE

Much backslapping was observed and conversations surrounding original theme setting were quickly parked for that of the up and coming Easter break.Ìý
The proposal of "Roll-Over" was unanimously agreed as a legitimate path of least resistance, with Ricardo picking up the short straw for Good Friday due to being slowest to submit his annual leave request (the others having lodged theirs well beforehand, in-keeping with the nursery and school timetables).
Under A.O.C.B. the matter on the theme jotter was raised AGAIN! Chairperson dismissed any such calls for it's re-establishment due to current listener numbers and the tried and tested formula of repeating popular theme ideas.Ìý
In closing the "Chair" also noted this was an efficient way to run a request programme with subtle changes to any existing play-lists as being perfectly acceptable to a drive time audience. Reassurance was also given to those there present that on no account was there to be any canvassing for fresh theme ideas on air anymore and that nobody would be deemed to be lacking original thought come their next performance review.
