Life is just a bowl of cherries...
Well, tonight's show was a stellar success and I was over the moon playing all your interplanetary requests and suggestions. Thank You! There's always going to be a wealth of 'Outer Space' tunes from the classic and well-known through to the obscure... I personally loved 'The Martian Hop' by The Ran-Dells, 'Yuri' by Oi Va Oi and any excuse to play 'Telstar' by The Tornados or 'Flying Saucer Attack' by The Rezillos is fine by me. What a great fun show and in all in celebration of Yuri Gagarin's first journey into space 50 years ago in 1961.
On tomorrow's Get It On it's time to get deep with a new theme - 'Philosophical songs'. Yes, songs about 'life, love, the universe and everything'... that may cover quite a bit of ground, but it's up to YOU where we take this. Do you share your outlook on life with Doris Day's 'Que Sera, Sera' or perhaps the more unusual opinion of 10CC that 'Life Is A Minestrone'? We could grapple with affairs of the heart and play 'Why Do Fools Fall In Love' or how about the artists who tackle the meaning of life in a song, Dylan's 'Blowin' In The Wind' or maybe REM with 'Everybody Hurts'?
Take a moment to yourself, gaze deeply into your navel, stroke that chin and then get in touch... we'll Get It On!"

That's the very ones, Senga - I think they compliment my bike and the rest of the garb and, of course, the pale skin tones.
I take my time in the evening - turn up the ipod and peddle away - after another bonkers day here it's easy to lose concentration on the nutters making their way from the city to Milngavie, made all the more hazardous en route by the lemmings that congregate on Maryhill Road in the early evening. Why more people aren't killed is a mystery to me.I've been cycling 14 miles a day for the last week or so and my weight has gone up! I'm gutted.
I do take a shower and listen to Get It On whilst doing so and then text any requests when I emerge, radiant and happy, like a leader of the Tory party..
Knackered, I fall asleep listening to Radio 6. Very good it is too, musically speaking, but not really entertaining. I heard a great track by the Would Be's from an old Peel session last night, but cant source it.I'm gutted.
Anyway, in the morning I get up and do it all again.
And the philosophy is: do what you can, where you are, with what you've got - which is what Roosevelt told America at the height of the great depression and it's kinda useful in the times we live in.

Walk Tall - Dreadzone long overdue, Vic
Reds In My Bed - 10CC Eric Stewart's finest - much more on theme than Minestrone
Enjoy the Ride - Morcheeba
Body & Soul The Blue Nile
What Is Success? - Bonnie Raitt
