it's great to have you back, especially for a whole week! We look forward to expanded horizons, new music, discarded standard playlists, revival of jaded palettes and general injection of enthusiasm for the less-played but deserving of a wider audience songs that are waiting out there to enhance our tea-times.
You'll note the themes are not exactly radical or new, so even more pressure not to repeat the playlist from last time.
MONDAY
Let's all stand up for
The Low Anthem - Ghost Woman Blues
saw them at Òran Mòr on Thursday - well those that were 6ft tall saw them and the guy who stood right in front of me just as they were about to start was, very luckily for him. Anyway, TLA were absolutely brilliant, Charlie Darwin spine-tinglingly sung to perfection, as were all their quiet songs and the audience hugely appreciative but also prepared to LISTEN without talking through the songs. The bit with the phones on speaker was great and I'm looking forward to someone telling me how to do this before next time. Loved their enthusiastic take on Cigarettes and Whisky and Wild Wild Women and of course their own Boeing 737 - just a fantastic night altogether and the band so huggable you just wanted to take them home.
cheers, Vic, isn't it great when a whole new week lies in front, all possibilities open. You're going to excel, aren't you? We know you are.
