Stay seated...

Bryan Burnett | 20:06 UK time, Monday, 17 January 2011

We received a run of great theme ideas during last night's programme. I particularly liked Brian McAulay's idea of the songs that you expected not to like but were actually a bit disappointed that you did like after all. I get that feeling every time I find myself humming along to Belle and Sebastian. Bob Reid, one of our Facebookers also suggested a 'muso week' which I know will appeal to our bloggers. Let's get thinking about that and what form it could take. I'm up for it but it has to be a format that is still accessible to all of our listeners. I'm sure we can make it work. Here's Bob's original posting: "Could I suggest a MUSO week. Themes reflecting the "best in contemporary or the avant garde"? "Unjustly neglected gems", "Best tracks never released as singles", "Best song with backing singers" "most interesting and meaningful lyrics" and, just to show this needn't be po-faced, and following the guilty pleasures them..." Tomorrow is 'sitting' songs to be followed by 'standing' on Wednesday. From The Mercy Seat to Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, get in touch and let me know what you want to hear. Also feel free to use this as a caption competition - although clearly not a real competition with prizes and the rest but just a bit of fun for our bloggers...
