Smells Like Teen Spirit which I don't think got played (thank heaven) but was held up as a piece of nonsense seems pretty straightforward too, and the problem with this theme is that if the Wasteland were put out as a song it would quite likely get picked. Not that I'm comparing Teen Spirit to Wasteland you understand, but sometimes lyrics bear a bit closer reading

Senga, the underlying theme of the song is the corruption and decadence of the music industry which is described as a prison that artists seek and freely enter [And she said ’we are all just prisoners here, of our own device’] to later discover that they cannot escape it anymore [But you can never leave]. The 'steely knives' line is a direct reference to and dig at Steely Dan, who made a dismissive reference to The Eagles on their 'The Royal Scam' album.

It's not a personal favourite of mine - or, at least, I've heard it once too often, but obviously, a cleverly crafted song.

#69 it was a great programme tonight - missed the start, after doing all the stuff you have to do (like making the tea - who wants to eat after 5pm??), soon got settled in. And what a beautiful voice Alison has, quite apart from playing some top tunes. Including Ernie - Benny Hill.
(That getting in home late thing is happening all the time now - the regular nippy madeforcountrybackroads bus has been replaced with one more suited to town travel. Owen our driver handles it fantastically well, but we're still 10 minutes late home every night. He must be every bit as unhappy as his travellers. He has also done the 7.45am run into work.)
Could we maybe do a theme one night in celebration of the background folk who make it possible for the rest of us to function?

Where's Scotch? Was the excitement too much for him?

Well, Owen's tachograph must make interesting reading.
