Kate Bush can divide opinion, but I genuinely think this is a work of genius, which is not something I say lightly.It is the ultimate song about emotional pain.Perhaps, she couldn't help herself, it's straight from the heart, 100% raw emotion, not so much a song as a complete catharsis. I understand it totally.If I was to pick something which completely summed up the utter despair, anguish and sensation of hopelessness in the situation - then no one has ever captured it as Kate Bush does. One can only presume it is not a work of imagination.If it is, she really is a genius.

Although I'll happily take credit for any Braggism on GiO, that wasn't my shout.

However, Marr & Kirsty were long time collaborators with le Bragg - since Talking with the Taxman. Johnny played on Greetings to the New Brunette & from there, England Half English was the next album that didn't have Kirsty singing on it.

Johnny also was a key part of the production team on Don't Try This At ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ, starting with transforming Sexuality - the full story is on the , Episode 11, along with the pre-Marr version, which is ok, but doesn't have the sheer sense of joy that the final one has.

this fabulous song has made a couple of appearances on GIO over the last year - trouble is, it's the duff version that's played, admittedly, it's painful to listen to. The 12" version is slightly longer but it's absolutely worth it - it's on the 'Memorabilia' compilation, and contains a magnificent oboe or clarinet solo in the middle.Absolutely stunning. Not sure what it's really about,but it seems to be a pain/pleasure thing - but whatever it is, Marc's voice always seems to convey something sordid somehow, though I've really no idea why.

Good suggestion.

This could be run over two nights, once as described by yourself and once where Bryan 'Dares To Be Different' and plays artists he has never knowingly played before. Captain Ramius could adjudicate.

However, the idea would best be accomodated within a normal theme for the evening,otherwise it will to hard to for the team to know what to play.

If we were given a couple of days notice then Bryan and the team would have time to check that we weren't suggesting songs about naked leap frog or anything that would excite Paul Handley.

I doubt I'd suggest Dignity,though, that would be painful.
