80's floorfillers

The 80's was when I started playing Dave Doubledecks in the days when mobile discos meant dashing home from work, fighting through the kids toy cupboard to get the twelve boxes of records at the back of the cupboard and then off to play some function or other before coming home knackered and have to put all the record boxes back at the back of the cupboard again. I mean where's the fun now of carrying 18 zillion songs around on a wee chip.

The beginning of the decade saw many student roller discos. We used to play musical chairs on roller skates in those days before health and safety and hadanaccidentnotyourfault had been invented.

Ah excellent. Lust and Loathing. I don't remember ever hearing Atlantic Soulsters The Persuaders on the show before. They recorded the original versions of the likes of Gladys Knights 'Best Thing that Ever Happened to me' and Palmer's Some Guys Have all the Luck. They also did the original of what might well be the Klaxon song for Monday but their version is brilliant.

I watched bits of the Live Aid DVD recently and remembered how knocked out I was that night by George Thorogood. Actually he was probably among the last of the artists I can remember at all from that concert since I was knocked out again soon after due to intoxication.
