#48 well, if it was a more engaging theme, we'd be listening to something else. I just can't be bothered with this tonight. Actually, I'm still fed up that after weeks of asking for a request on a Friday for my increasingly frail old mum, they just won't do it.

I'm with Glen, none of this weeks themes are of much appeal. Thursday's is potentially exciting, but since the music will once again feature the Proclaimers and lots of washed up 80's acts, what's the point - you can't get John Lennon played on 'eccentrics' night, they are hardly likely to play him on Thursday.

Since the recent 'high' of 'Fish Heads' and Zappa and Zepplin on the one night, I think the show has totally nosedived....predictable squared.....thinking of wrapping this up and heading back to Radio 4.

Mad Mac is rewarded for 'perseverance' with 3 attempts... you couldn't make it up... but guess what, Propaganda are an 80's band. This obsession with music from when Bryan was a yoof is beginning to do my nut in.

Been taking a rest and come back to find everyone seemingly p####d off. Calm, the weather has improved, the football season is nearly over and we can all start hoping that next season our team will start playing like Barcelona, and beat all the others, in close fought thrilling matches, who will be playing like Bayern, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Man U etc. And who knows, we might even get a good Government in at the election - though I can't see how that is possible given the contenders, more chance of the football hope coming true. As for Tuesday I am seconding Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore, an all time classic, and BB could also play a couple of my previous requests that he was impressed with eg

I'd not have been seen dead saying I liked Tom Jones, which I didn't anyway, back in the day, nor even in the fairly recent past and as for spending money to go to a concert and throw my knickers away - well really. In fact I think my ears sort of closed up when the likes of him and Engelbert came on TOTPs. Songs for the parents. Hope Jimi's on next. However, have to admit that after having a song of Tom's played on GIO, (one of my Dad's favourites), he has a truly fantastic voice .

I thought the show was good, but that's just my opinion of course. :0)

It was a good show. Furthermore, the GIO team have gone to some lengths to keep all of us happy with the variation of themes of late and the inclusion of a wider variety of genres from time to time. We might not always get the tracks we want played but I'm willing to bet some of the folks at the 成人快手 are wondering just WHAT WILL make us grumpy lot happy anyway! :-)

At the end of the day all a 'podcast' is, is a playable media file you can stick on a portable player and take with you. If it's a programme that's already aired, use something like Freecorder to grab the audio to a file (MP3) and take it with you. If it's just a notional playlist you're talking about that has not been aired on a station then it's up to you to either grab/buy the tunes yourself or use something like Spotify Premium where you can retain a list of tunes to play offline on your iPhone/whatever. Most 成人快手 Radio Scotland shows don't have podcasts and those that do generate an alternative file with 'clips' only.

Jim Gellatly sticks his podcasts on iTunes where you can grab them easily. I tend not to bother with podcasts so can't steer you towards many others. Sae, ah ken a bitty, nae a muckle.

But what will make me happy is :

: that when we get 12 - 15 requests for 'White Room' by Cream, it gets played, in line with 'You Choose The Music'.

: that requests have some relation to the theme - 'stage persona' is just dressing up for performance - everyone who perform does that - it does not mean the performer is 'eccentric'. Sparks are a performing pop band. John Lennon was genuinely eccentric.Upon reflection, maybe Paul McCartney is the genuine eccentric, 拢800m in the bank and seemingly normal.

: that the 'obituary' policy is even handed.Malcom Mclaren dying is no more tragic than Lesley Duncan dying.Neither had recoreded for years.

: that the GIO team's bigotory against certain artists and era's should cease.

: recognition that the regular bloggers go to great lengths to contribute to the show in a way that other contributors really don't - that shouldn't just be taken for granted: if someone is regularly blogging for something in particular, they probably have something worth hearing and sharing.

Most of us blog cos we enjoy the blog and the programme. Yeah we all get a bit nippy at times in the same way we all get very witty at times. We all want our stuff played and some stuff just doesn't get on for whatever reason. That in some perverse way actually adds to the siege mentality here sometimes even though there's usually a sprinklin of bloggers featured in each programme. Howeva! Think you might be getting carried away just a wee tad as to the importance of it all. Not all the listeners are the afficianados that some of us are.


Besides some folk like to hear what they're eating getting read out on radio. Just ask Angie fae Galashiels :-)

Nah! Nobody should get ANY kind of priority - the producer's job is to make a good show with the materials we give them in the form of requests. From that THEY decide what's to be played (although obviously we have made the suggestions). I will be quite happy sitting here tonight chomping my pizza sure in the knowledge that Dave Gilmour probably won't get a play! But then again...

No real disagreement there.I'm not taking it seriously,really, but it's just as easy to feel passionate about things that are unimportant, as are important.If I didn't love the show, I wouldn't have anything to say about it.I like and admire the people who run the programme, but I think they are unbalanced in their approach to certain things.

I don't see any harm in pointing that out.

No, it doesn't have to be good to get played, it has to be reqested. Lots of stuff that most people would never listen to in any other circumstance gets played because it fits a theme and gets requested, like William Shatner, The Wombles and Clive Dunn.

Consequebntly, 12 - 15 requests for 'White Room' by Cream, whatever the DJ thinks of it, should get played?

That it doesn't is unbalanced, nothing to do with priority.

Yep, I'm just a license fee payer with a point of view and a choice.I don't profess to be able to judge 'good' and like most people I'm sure my taste is in my mouth, but you don't need taste to recognise imbalance.

I thought the point of all this interactivity and feedback, "putting the listener at the centre of everything we do", presumes the listener has a voice worth hearing. Unless all that's just a con to justify cheap broadcasting.

It's up to the producer, of course, whether to pay any attention to that voice - but as someone famously put it, 'I'm not the only one'.
