Musical relationships....
I don't know what it was about last night's theme but it seemed to
inspire one of our most diverse playlists yet. Your 'sound'
suggestions took in everyone from Tommy Steel to Girls Aloud, from
Public Enemy to The Buzzcocks. On paper it sounds bonkers but I think
it made a good show. Full details and links to all the artists are
available on the Get It On homepage where you can also listen again to
last night's show.
Tonight it's 'relationships within bands', a theme inspired by
Fleetwood Mac's visit to Glasgow later this week. The breakdown of the
various relationships within that band have been well documented over
the years. It must have been hell to have been around them at the time
they were all splitting up. But then again they did make some fine
music during that period. Maybe the tensions between couples fuel the
creative process.
I'll sure we will gets lots of suggestions of loved up couples as well
as the ones whose rocky relationships have nearly split up the band!
Ones that spring to mind include Blondie, Eurythmics and Deacon Blue.
( The album is great by the way.)
I like to maintain a close working relationship with my production
team although not that close if you know what I mean. However, that
didn't stop the new boy in the office asking if myself and a certain
producer (*** ) were an item! Oh how we laughed. Mind you, at the
time we were shouting across the office and arguing about whose turn
it was to do the montage....Is it any wonder he thought we were a
happily married couple?

Don't know if you'll remember but a couple of weeks ago when the theme was literature I suggested that you include prairie rock band Lincoln City's tune Huckleberry Finn.
Well, the song is now actually posted on the band's myspace (/lincolncityband) and it's a cracker. The footage was shot at The Lot in Edinburgh's grassmarket last Thursday. Probably later on today or to-morrow the band will be posting the rest of the gig with including a couple of songs Don't Turn Your Back On Me This Way and Safe in your Arms, destined to be two of the greats in contemporary song. Check out front man Ali Campbell's unplugged set once its posted. It is getting on for the iconic.
