Take it to the bridge...
It's the "Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend" bit in We Can Work It Out. It's the "Father forgive, I tried not do it" bit in It's A Sin and when Martin Fry claimed to go from "One extreme to another" that was a middle eight.
Tonight's theme of 'great middle eights' may sound a bit muso but it's hopefully one that everyone can join in with.
The middle eight or bridge is the bit of the song that breaks up the traditional verse/chorus/verse structure and is often used to pause in the middle of a song before reaching for the climax. You can get more info here.
So what we're looking for are the songs that go off in a different direction somewhere in the middle. Best one I've seen suggested so far is the "Oh let our love survive" line from Suspicious Minds. If you can think of a better one then get one the email right now...
Oh dear - Norrie has just emailed me this which is the clip of Victoria Principal and Andy Gibb doing All I Have To Is Dream. Worse - Miss Babs has just texted to say she was one of the poor deluded souls who actually bought the thing!!!

It's the bit that goes
No one could ever know me
No one could ever see me
Seems you're the only one who knows
What it's like to be me
Someone to face the day with
Make it through all the rest with
Someone I'll always laugh with
Even at my worst I'm best with you, yeah
