Freckle - good to see you! I was only wondering the other day how you were getting on. Glad you're well and still enjoying Mull. Iona is a lovely place, you're right. I've had the privelege to stay overnight there, and after the last ferry's gone and the island's quiet, it is quite the most peaceful and spiritual place I have ever known. Iz

I love the way you caught the swans in mid-wing-flap.

Hi - sorry in my hast forget to label the photos! Yes it is a buzzard - you see them round every corner on Mull - the swans are whoopers caught mid flap (luck honest!), the one inbetween the swans and buzzard is theSound of Mull from Glenforsa - that is my daily walk with the dog! top one is going through Glen More.

Pic 2: a buzzard, you say? Looks like a red hawk (SW USA) at first sight. Your buzzards look much better than our turkey vultures. # Good to hear from you Wild Freckle.

why thank you mjc! - I have to say our buzzards are quite splendid - I still love to watch them - the markings on them are something else - locally they are known as Bowmans' Eagles - Bowmans are the local bus/coach company on the island - the tourists see buzzards from a distance and think they are eagles - a mistake we would never make (tongue in cheek!)

Blush. I've done that. Sitting on the deck of a boatie going down the Sound of Mull, I pointed out a big bird to the cap'n, asking "is that an eagle?". He (a Dervaig resident) sighed slightly and identified it as a buzzard. Now I understand the reason for the sigh. Iz
