Why is that?

Adam, I don't know why Phil Collins gets so much stick, it's become completely uncool to admit to liking him. He's never been on my playlist particularly, but I think he's got plenty of good songs and doesn't deserve to be so mocked. It's something that we do here, the old build 'em up and knock 'em down thing; I despise it, and I despise the media for encouraging it, as they certainly do.

Well, I think it was a mixture of his perosnal behaviour, which was no worse than many others, and the fact that he was constantly at the front of everything - never off the telly, the concorde double bill at Live Aid, producing everyone including Clapton and Philip Bailley - I think folk just got fed up seeing him everywhere, Wogan, Aspel etc. I think he came to represent a kind of 'establishment' which people started to rail against. Qutiing the UK didn't help - I saw him concert in once,(SECC) which I'd oblitereted from my mind, not because it was a bad gig but because it was the last thing I attended with my ex wife (her choice) during the living death phase of the marriage.

So I have poor neuro associations - the gig was good enough, the memory isn't.
