I like Jack Bruce. He was great in Cream and I even went to see him with Carla Bley and Mick Taylor on 3rd June 1975 at the Apollo. But I think if I read his name here again I'm going to scream.

To be fair, McCartney did do it all twice. The Beatles ended with all the money frozen... Hence ballad's like My Love, which generated a few quid - check the B sides - McCartney got a transit van and did little university gigs to establish Wings in the only way he knew how. I doubt the blog got much reading - planning for Burns night will be dominating... and our hero has more of a sence of humour than that - he was tickled by last year's Blog O'Shanter.

Mind you I don't think he was best pleased by 'blog bingo', which I thought was hilarious - I thought he'd have played along by dropping the key phrases into the dialogue.

I think that's why Wogan became the doyen of Radio, he played along with his audience, creating a clubby, family 'in- joke' feel to his time on air - it was inclusive and he was relaxed with his audience to the point of absurdity.

Certainly, if he'd been presented with this level of originality and committment from the listeners, he'd have not only acknowledged it, he'd have promoted it and joined in.

The poem is really good - it deserves to be heard and I can't think of a better night for it than Burns night.

I shall miss the show.... Smiffy and will be off to see J*** B****

Well done DC / Gaie. Very clever. I've always found it too difficult to write poetry in a language i dont understand. See Burns and Shakespeare. For a couple of national bards they have never stirred my soul or given me any kind pf pleasure. They just do nothing for me. Hope that doesnt make me a bad person.

I have been to two burns suppers in my life and I have another on saturday. Thoroughly enjoyed them but that was down to the company and the drink rather than the burns and the supper. i have never enjoyed eating the entrails bit.

Will be listening tonight on my way home to see what new music Burns would have approved of.

Personally I think he would have enjoyed a pint with an adopted scot and sharing stories of their conquests over the years
