Enjoyed fridays show. even though most of the songs wouldn't have stopped me in my tracks it was interesting to hear why they did with others. Gives a new perspective on some of the songs.

previously on the blog and the nights show ,which was brilliant btw.

i remember (c 1961/62) brian matthews and his saturday morning show that came on after sparky, nellie the elephant, puff the magic dragon etc (all great songs) and one saturday he had the beatles live in the studio and they sang 'twist and shout'. what a rasping voice lennon had....that recording is probably somewhere in the bbc archives....so the next time the theme is 'live performances'.......thats the one to gio.

My Robin Williamson request, which was perfect for Armistice Day, was completely ignored – I’m not surprised but why is one of Scotland’s most prolific singer/songwriters always completely ignored on this programme? GIO really needs to open its eyes. It’s insulting to assume that teatime listeners can only deal with pop and self-indulgent of Bryan to always gravitate to eighties pop.
My requests are therefore aimed more towards the bloggers because I like to think that someone will at least give it a listen (as I know has been the case). I have been introduced to much more music from the blog than I ever have been from the programme.

I know its been on before, but it really is tremedous. The guys from Steely Dan on imperious form as the backing band - a walk in the park for them, but hey, it sounds fantastic.

I was taken aback by how good the show was last night. I think you're always slightly twitchy about themes you suggest in case it's duff. Didn't get laughing Lenny in the end, but the theme seemed to go down well.

last night whilst taxiing through a darker part of the city not far from the village i saw a sign at what i suppose is a dentists or something but as it was well shuttered i couldn't see in the window as i drove past...this place was called....'kelvin smile centre'.
i have instructed attorney to deliver papers citing 'understating a brand name'.
henceforth to my list.....

Kelvin Smile Centre - I drove past it today.I noticed because I was thinking about GIO.

White background, green lettering, on Maryhill Road if I remember correctly. Maybe they thought Maryhill Smile Centre too improbable. It's not dentistry they need in Maryhill so much as the highway code. Lemmings, they will insist in walking right onto the public highway. Bonkers.
