Well that was quite a show tonight. Talk about an emotional roller coaster. I was really touched by all the lovely emails, texts and posts that came from families saying goodbye to their teenagers for the first time. " It had me greetin into ma stovies" said Davy on the text. Who said Scottish men are afraid of showing their emotions?
There was some great advice in song and from listeners. I love the blunt advice that Kirsty's mum passed on: " Don't get pregnant and always wear a vest!"
Tomorrow night is 'risk taking' - from Freefalling to Dancing on The ceiling it'll be a healthy and safety nightmare...
Let go is on the soundtrack for Garden State a film essentially about letting go and taking a risk on love and embracing your feelings both the positive and the negative and a definate must see film I think. The start of the song always brings the hairs up on the back of my neck.
so let go, jump in oh well, whatcha waiting for it's alright 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown so let go, just get in oh, it's so amazing here it's alright 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown
Oh yeah? Presumably with full PPE , Method Statement, Complying with the Confined Spaces Act, with a CSSC Qualification, suitable breathing apparatus.....
I've heard it's illegal to not have full control of your car and, living in a town full of hills, it's probably not all that safe, either. Going into netrual to Freewheel Duke Special is just asking for trouble. Even if it saves on the petrol.
Racing in the street - Springsteen They shoot horses don't they - Racing cars Back street love - Trapeze Sex on fire - Kings of Leon Red light spells danger - Billy Ocean Up this high/Tumbling down - Allison Moorer Tumbling dice - Rolling Stones
Who might be harmed - Those only doing their jobs How-Hurt feelings and bruised egos How likely - Moderate risk Precautions - Personal protection (thick skins, minimised use of sharp words)
I have recorded these findings and implemented them. They will be reviewed in due course.
dear ringo, please do not try this at home or if you must then attach air tanks and take one of these spear thingies as well.................
'octopus's garden'......................
# previously on radio scotland this morning.....david walliams swimming the thames which is very risky.....whilst singing 'smiths' songs to himself....thats just pure sad.
#previously on the show..........open letter to teenage son...when it came out it got some air-play here . it was one of the first if not the first of that type of what seemed to be some form of pre-post-modern humour.....however the closing lines reveal the father's full intention if the boy burns his draft papers......'burn your birth certificate boy'.......that's too harsh da'...get over it. (that sunscreen song is a take on that original and its not as good...too forced)
I spend my life thinking about risks - some of them quite obscure and mind boggling.
Here's some that are less obvious but just as pulse racing:
Reds In My Bed - 10CC - a song about the dangers of being smuggled across a border illegally in the bot of a car.Risky, but all too real in some places.
The Captain - Leonard Cohen doing deals with the devil is a risky business...
Medicine Jar - Wings ' dead on your feet, you won't get far, if you keep on stickin' your hand in the medicine jar' great rocker about the risks of taking too many prescription drugs.
On The Border - Al Stewart Gun running and civil insurrection.. risky business... 10CC also do a gun running song 'Oh Effendi'
zillions more to choose from but these are great tracks and it would be good to hear one of them...
