Vic, if the guitar at the top of the page belonged to jack bruce it wouldn't have any frets on it.

Hopefully we'll get to hear something other than 'Sunshine' - it's easy to get confused by jack bruce basslines, because he very often plays the instrument the way other people play lead.

This is quite neatly demonstrated on the track Make Love - Jack Bruce - from the album A Question of Time

This is easy drivetime music, Vic. On top of which he hails from Glasgow, sold 35m records between 1967 and 1969 and has influenced following generations of bass players, including Jaco Pastorious, no less.

I think we should rename Glasgow Airport after him, but failing that, then given all the fuss that's made of Scottish 80's bands on the show, I think our finest bassist at least deserves to be heard on Get It On for his solo work.

I got to see the legendary Jaco Pastorious in 1979 when he was with Weather Report at the Apollo promoting the brilliant "Heavy Weather" album.I first heard him when he played on Joni Mitchell's "Hejira"album in 1976 and was blown away by the brilliant subtle interplay between Joni's plangent guitarwork and his incredible rolling basswork."Birdland" or "A Remark You Made"from "Heavy Weather"would be cool or even better,the title track from "Hejira"or "Don Juan's Reckless Daughter"Stupendously talented and sadly another rock casualty,Cheers,Willie Bartke
