We didn't have a record player in our house until I bought the standard 1970 budget hi fi system (Garrard SP25 etc.). Until then I'd been taping from the radio (pre-FM). Bookends was one of the first ones I bought. It was then I discovered pop music included bass and cymbals.

#10,Henri,I saw Arrival at the Greens Playhouse early 70s as a support act for....I've forgotten!I loved "Friends" and "I Will Survive" and remember they did a great live version of Aretha's "With Every Thing I Feel in Me"which by her is unbelievable and unfortunately unobtainable now so far as I can see.Also bought Delaney and Bonnie's "I'm Comin ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ"and remember the b side was "Superstar (Groupie Girl)which was sanitized a bit for the Carpenters"sleep with you"became "be with you".Nonetheless,I love the Carpenters cover.Cheers, Willie Bartke
