Heard her Desert Island Discs over the festives - what a lovely fruitcase she is. If you decide to play one of her songs, don't make it Puppet On A String - she never liked it.

Amy Winehouse just misses out on being a teenage sensation - shame. Could you, if it's a quiet one (as if) see fit to allow for a couple of just out of their teens when they hit the big time? It's still very young. If so, Back To Black would be good. It's not feel-good but it's definitely one that reflects a young artiste with an incredible talent.

Amy Macdonald was still a teenager by at least a month when she released This Is The Life. Impressive.

Big 2nd for Sandie Shaw - welcome to the Sandie Shaw Appreciation Society. Much as Sandie dislikes Puppet On A String, it is mostly because the song drew attention away from the fantastic songs composed by Chris Andrews for what inevitably became the 'Puppet' Album, in which the title track is a complete oddity.

There are some fantastic songs on that album - I got Bryan to play one of them last year.No less than henri hannah and some bloke called Morrissey are fans.

However, to return to theme,

Uptight (Everything's Alright) - Steveie Wonder

Stevie's first single for Motown (age 15) and his first co written composition.He had, of course, already cracked the charts age 12 with Fingertips part 2, as 'little Stevie Wonder' but this is the first hit for the instantly recognisable tenor voice singing a song he partly composed (the riff). The Studio had written the lyrics but did not have a braile version on the day of recording - so another singer sang them to him one line ahead, as they recorded - he never missed a beat!

Does it get any more talented than this?

And I'm sure Neil Reed was about 25 at the time.

She was 19 when it was released. The record label asked if she'd written any songs, so she lied and said "Yeah, loads!" and then had to rush home and write some really quickly. This classic was one of them!

She was only 15 or 16 when this one came out.

#51 - yep, Lulu. Great voice that never got the correct exposure so I'll 2nd anything there, however, 'The Boat That I Row (age 18)is fabby and interesting because the backing band are Led Zepplin. Another interesting bit of trivia is that when Dusty (another great talent that despite her early success was not fully realised/utilised) was in Memphis she suggested to Jerry Wexler that he should sign this band back home whom she'd worked with as session musicians - and so,Jerry, on Dusty's personal recommendation, signed Led Zepplin.
