New year tunes...
It's been argued that making new year's resolutions is a bit of a waste of time and causes a lot more stress in the long run. And let's face it not many of us have stuck to them. On Wednesday's show I'll be asking which songs would make a good resolution for you. Will yours be Relax or Keep On Running? Get in touch and let me know and the good news is that at 8pm you'll be allowed to break them...

I hate my job. Not because of the nature of the work, just the iniquities in the office. But it's a wage even if it's not a living. Perhaps new pastures green would be a good idea.

But then, forced to think about it, I realise I'm at seven.
I think it's going to be a tough old year for lots of us.
Churchill said, 'If you're going through hell, keep going' and I'm kind of with that.
I've no great sensation of optimism, I have to say, therefore a year of Churchillian stoicism seems to be in order.
Like everyone, I've made lots of mistakes,I'm sure, and given the sad obituary I'm sure we've all just read of Gerry Rafferty, I think my resolutions will be based around:

This track has the added connotation of new relationships, which is also appropriate for me, here's hoping 2011 is the lucky year.

I later saw it advertised in record collector for three figure sums.

Alive in the World - Jackson Browne
I want to live in the world, not inside my head
I want to live in the world, I want to stand and be counted
With the hopeful and the willing
With the open and the strong
With the voices in the darkness
Fashioning daylight out of song
And the millions of lovers
Alive in the world
I want to live in the world, not behind some wall
I want to live in the world, where I will hear if another voice should call
To the prisoner inside me
To the captive of my doubt
Who among his fantasies harbors the dream of breaking out
And taking his chances
Alive in the world
thanks, Jackson, for putting it so well for me
