Many of us would have been busy last night and will doubtless the same this weekend: for some reason I had a quiet night in last night and listened to Edith's album show: it was truly marvelous.

We've had a wee bit of snow this morning, possibly a wee bit more around lunchtime. I suspect most of your problems will be at the Greenock end. It's very cold, so wrap up well. Don't forget your wee woolly hat! Be prepared to walk to the gig from the station and to the station from the gig. It will almost certainly be quicker than waiting for a taxi.

Enjoy the show, and try not to lose any children!

Yeah, Scotch, it was snowing pretty heavily here a few minutes ago. Wasn't planning on the train - late night trains are my idea of hell - but it may have to be. Oh well. There's folks coming from all over Scotland and Europe so getting here's more of a worry for them.

Woolly bunnet indeed! Twice a year (maybe 3 times if there's another soiree before Ne'erday) I get to dress in anything other than working clothes and I've to wear a woolly bunnet!!

You may be sure the children won't be trying to get lost, they know their Christmas presents are in the cupboard.

Yep, agreed MD and The Carpenters dodn't deserve anything but respect, however, it happens to be true that their version of Please Mr Postman is dull and awful. I don't know why they bothered to record it at all - I think it's from an album called 'Yesterday Once More' - watered down versions of hits from their childhood in a middle of the road style, capturing nothing of the soulfulness of the Marvellettes nor Lennon's raw enegy.

Agreed, we do hear a lot of Beatles (Captn Ramius shows them topping the pops with GIO) - however, among the explanations for that, presumably, is that they are a class act.

Henri - the album is actually Now and Then, but Please Mr Postman is not on that lp. I think you are thinking of side two to the album which was basically a medley of old songs....

Please Mr.Postan is on the Horizon lp, which did not sell well but is easily the best Carpenters Album (and mostly originals).

Norrie - The Carpenters' own Roxy John.

Wait till I start on the band that brought us Trocadero.......

#56 Norrie, Horizon is the only original Carpenters album that I got to listen to and I thought it was very good. I particularly like their version of the oldie "I Can Dream, Can't I".
