Does Universe count? I'm only submitting one band tonight because I've asked for space stuff before and some of it has been played. If it wasn't, I'm not in too much of a rush to start canvassing for those to make up for it - I'm easy that way. Might make it for another show.

I love Crowded House again - after 4 years of empty nest, it feels odd, but OK. Other than that - these songs resonate in a lot of ways I'm not going into for the sake of a "good story". The music speaks for itself, they both fit.

Which was a sort of relief since I tried to watch Avatar on DVD at the weekend and gave up, wondering what was the nmatter with me that the film absolutely everyone raved about didn't do it for me and also made me feel slightly dizzy with the endless camera movement.

Yep, you're right. I get it wrong every time we do space too.

It would just not be right without 'Blue Moon' on Outer Space night.

Trouble is, which version?

Vic,Miss Babs & team, there is an unlikely but really fabulous version of Blue Moon by none other than Bob Dylan from the otherwise unusual Self Portrait album - which really does deserve to be heard.

It would make up for not hearing John Lennon on New York night.

The idea is to choose superstars and then play second rate records by the bunch of deadbeats who used to hold them back.

Picture the scene:

place - GIO studio
time - 7.30 -ish Thursday

Vic: time to go through the suggestions for P. Pets, Plants, Pigs WIll Fly - yeah, let's do tha....tails off, looking at the furious head-shaking going on over the studio, moves on hastily and plays next record.
Later, Vic is taken aside and the matter explained:

'See it's like this, Vic, there are certain songs and artists that will simply not make it onto the playlists. This has led to some agitation on the blog and a Pigs Might Fly section was mooted. The bloggers jumped at the idea,not realizing it was but a trap. Simple really: make them sweat and toil for several weeks trying to get a certain song played and then finally put it out under PMF. The bloggers fall to their knees, whimpering their thanks and only later realizing that the song will NEVER EVER get played again. They no longer ask for it; the auditors of GIO looking at the request lists see nothing amiss in terms of unplayed requests. GIO remains the programme where We Choose the Music. Now if we play a whole 2 hours of PMF is will all seem too easy, there might be some sort of positive feed-back and we'd have to play some of these songs again.
But, but..stammers Vic...why do you not want to play some of the songs? I don't understand.

SImple, Vic. We don't like them.
