Next week's themes...

Bryan Burnett | 10:26 UK time, Friday, 30 October 2009

themesvid.jpgA big welcome to all the 'first timers who got in touch for Thursday's show. It really was a refreshing show. Saying that, we did miss the 'regulars' so looking forward to getting your emails and blog posts for this week's themes. Monday's theme is courtesy of one of our most prolific contributors so make sure you get behind his theme.
The latest video featuring details of the week's themes is now up on the Get It On homepage...

Monday
Will you go for an Ellis Bextor or perhaps a Cougar Mellencamp? It's double barreled names to kick off the week. Scotch Git suggests this as a theme and with possible tracks from everyone from Mary Chapin Carpenter to Jerry Lee Lewis it's going to be a good show...

Tuesday
At last year's Soundtown, Alva Academy, we ran a session where some of the pupils came up with ideas for Get It On themes. Amy suggested a theme of songs that had to be three minutes or under. Some say it's the perfect length for a pop song. If you agree then lets have your suggestions, but a word of warning -Ìý I will have my stopwatch standing by...

Wednesday
Accapella breakdowns is the theme for Wednesday. That bit on the middle of Somebody To Love, Sweet Dreams, or maybe Girls and Boys by Blur. Start thinking of the bits where the music stops and the spotlight is on the singing...
Ìý
Thursday
Finally - it's bonfire night tonight so lets have your appropriate songs featuring fireworks, bonfires and the like. Rocket man, Boom Bang A Bang and definitely something by Guy Mitchell...

Seems to be fairly quick and easy today, I think the trick is to be online at the email address they need to send the confirmation to. Bit of a faff...but it only took me about 3 or 4 minutes and you'll be up and running and able to post.
thanks so much to those of you who have already gone thro the process. And now you can suggest a whole host of tunes that take less than the re-registering process to listen to! Short and Sweet...can't wait.

    DRAP THE DEID DONKEY!

This reporter has acquired a tape of a typical conversation between PontoonCapella and Dykerlad.

Acute schizophrenia? Possessed by demons? Or is this normal behaviour in Fife?

    #86 A bit of a faff indeed! Been a bit busy with my new life of leisure - and the new dog! I will miss the show tonight as I am out, but will listen in later in the week. As it is songs of less then 3 mins then it has to be;

    Promised Land - Johnnie Allan
Johnny Bye Bye - Bruce Springsteen

Am now going out for a splash in the puddles (quite a few round Inverurie it seems) with the dog (a black lab puppy in case anyone is interested).

Ps Greetings to one and all.

Hoppo - splashing in the puddles has clearly focused the mind - great suggestions!

I've already asked for it by email but I'll ask here as well. I think the listeners would enjoy the song, especially the lyrics.

    ZZ Top

    Party on the Patio

    2:48

I met Billy Gibbons several years ago outside what used to be The Park Hotel here in Charlotte. He was very pleasant and he was wearing a purple shower cap.

Was gonna suggest a sweep on tonight's show to see how many short songs they fit in. Glad I didn't or I would have revised my original guess of 30 to 20 now i know that Miss short and sweet is producing.

Well she does like a blether hee hee :-)

    Wednesday:

My yacht is called Capella and her 36hp diesel unfortunately developed an oil leak a couple of years ago, a fault I didn't notice until too late, when the knocking sound became unbearable. The result was that the engine stopped when I was entering the harbour, leaving me heading straight for the pier at three knots...

I quickly hauled out the anchor chain and threw the hook over the side, managing to halt Capella in her tracks before she could hit the wall.

My engineer diagnosed the problem and we needed a new engine. A rather expensive oil leak!

Capella is now as good as new. Please play a song which reminds me of a Capella breakdown,

    "I hear you knocking".

    :-)

Alternatively, please play the live version of Runrig's "Loch Lomond"
