Next week's themes...
Here we go again then. Something to get you thinking over the weekend. I am having issues with Tuesday though. All week I have been thinking about what a great theme it was and now as I write this I can't think of a single track which fits the bill. Help!
Monday
It's not only the Get It On team that are obsessed by food. It's a popular theme which has been suggested by Jan from Rutherglen, John in Shieldhall and Iain "Vinylman" Lyall. Strawberry Fields, Bread, Rock Lobster or The Jam? Leave your menu on the blog...
Tuesday
'No intros' is the theme for tonight. Let's have your suggestions of the songs that get straight down to business. E-mail getiton@bbc.co.uk or why not leave a comment on the blog?
Wednesday
U2 were at Number 1 this week in 1988 with 'Desire' and Neil Martin suggested 'emotions' as a theme. How about 'Don't Worry, Be Happy', 'Comfortably Numb' or 'Too Shy'? Leave a comment on the blog with your favourite songs of desire, anger, passion, joy and the rest...or email getiton@bbc.co.uk.
Thursday
It's time for another 'themeless Thursday' where it's open house on Get It On. Whatever you want to hear, for whatever reason, get in touch and get it on....

The only point I was trying to make (and EC too I think) was that sure, if you’ve got a list of songs you think would be good to hear on the show, then go ahead put them in. It was the Google generated lists that we were talking about. Just listing as many songs connected to the theme to see who’s got the biggest, (and you know who you are), we thought was a bit boring. I mean the GIO Team could make use of this valuable resource themselves if they were stuck.

No intro to "Accidents Will Happen" by Elvis Costello from the album with possibly the most annoying cover in history. Try sliding that into your perfectly ordered and catalogued collection without tearing the foldy-down bits. Bloke thing, really.
Q. - what is an intro? If absence of vocals over instrumentation then most of the Ramones' songs would do it. If "1-2-3-4" is an intro then their "Pinhead" goes straight into an important motif "Gabba gabba we accept you, etc", which recurrs within the song and therefore can't really be classed as an intro. Either way, Ramones or Big El, Get It On (and no more of your Meatloaf nonsense, guys).

"Make It Easy On Yourself" - Dionne Warwick
"She Loves You" - The Beatles
"That's Not Me" - The Beach Boys
I'm looking forward to hearing what everyone else comes up with. By the way it's Morrocan Lamb tonight.

Knew the GOM comment on the lists would die a natural death and it was a bit like sticking a "Wet Paint" sign on a park bench. Nobody can walk past without touching it to see if it really is wet and the flurry of lists post the comments of AFR and me just goes to prove the theory.
That said, looking at this weeks first few blogs there are no tunes left for the rest of the week. That'll teach me to go off enjoying myself in Paris over the weekend.
Wonder who PM will pick on now?

Unfortunatly work intervened yesterday and I only caught the last 20mins or so of the show. I tend towards the vocals can be an intro as much as music and there were one or two I heard that I would have excluded, like 'Fat Bottomed Girls', but cie la vie. Hopefully timing will work out better tonight. As for tonight's them a few more thoughts:
I'll be the other woman - The Soul Children or Betty Wright
I Hear it through the Grapevine - Marvin Gaye
Tracks of My Tears or Tears of a Clown - Smokey Robinson
