I hear what everyone is saying about intros or no intro. I struggled to think of any song without an intro until I took the definition of the first thing heard is a vocal. Even if the no intro theme is not going to happen again then the Vocal First would be a goer surely.

The shows have been great this week, my daughter KirstyFromStonehaven were in the car on Monday on our way to buy cards and presents for her Mum's, my wife's Fiona's birthday today, when we heard her first mention. Brilliant moment, thanks. Happy Birthday Fiona.

Is it too late to suggest Happy Talk from either Captain Sensible or from the South Pacific LP that everyone's Mum and Dad seemed to possess when I was a kid.

I agree re vocals and was glad the G.I.O. Team saw fit to post some kind of disclaimer due to what I suspect was increasing levels of ambiguity prior to last night...

It was always going to be one of those difficult themes I suspect and fair play to Mandi for attempting to rein in the Marathon Man on occasion.

Lastly, I was lucky enough to be spared South Pacific...

pp Arnold - the first cut is the deepest, she was played a couple of weeks ago with her great version of Angel of the Morning and this is every bit as good.

Put Up The Flag - Steven Lindsay from his great album Kite

Justin Currie - Not So Sentimental Now from his brilliant brilliant album What is Love For

Tift Merritt - Something To Me from another great recent album Another Country

Killers - Human I have only heard this a couple of times but its really good

Gene Clark - Life's Greatest Fool from his brilliant post Byrds album, No Other

Dream baby Dream - Springsteen and Drive In Saturday - Morrissey, both covers and both I think only available on vinyl but I am sure the beeb must have copies and either would be sensational to hear on the radio

My final suggestion is a track which Bryan almost played a few weeks ago but I think ran out of time

Van Morrison - Till I Gain Control Again, the Rodney Crowell song which Van really does justice to, I think it is a great version of a great song.

Gilbert Becaud - "A Little Love and Understanding". My late father loved this record and it reminds me of Sunday lunchtimes, after Church and before Granny-visiting...he would play this over and over again and would always chuckle at the bits where Gilbert chuckles...which makes me chuckle to think of it. The words are pretty apt for the first part of Monday's show. Did you know?...Gilbert Becaud wrote the original French versions of "Let it be Me" and "What Now My Love" and he co-wrote "Love on the Rocks".

Another good reason to play this song is to give Bryan the chance to indulge his well loved hobby of pronounciation of foreign names.

On overrated bands you will get no argument from me on queen, I did hear them once referred to as a glitter band and that I think sums them up. I don't hate them, and there are one or two of their tracks that I quite like (I personally think 39 was the best things they ever did), but that's it. As for the rest of the list again can't really argue. To be hoinest most bands / singers, like most footballers, are overrated. The only bands / singers I think I have managed to revisit time and time again are Beatles, Stones (before they got crap), Dylan, van Morrison, Springsteen, Marvin Gaye and the like. There are lots of records by other artists that I like and indeed love, but can they do it for more then a couple of tracks? Currently I am liking Frightened Rabbit and Glasvegas which I recently discovered, but will they make the second album etc.

NB Gutted that Bryan played Promised Land and I missed it. Note that it does start with music, but that's no intro, that's straight into the meat! And he also played Ted Hawkins and I missed that as well.

NB THis blogging is getting quite addictive.

Has Bryan ever done a first record bought theme? I'll own up to Everlasting Love by Love Affair, and yes I still like it, Steve Ellis had a great voice. In fact I am rather protetcive of that record and would beat that little s##t Cullum to death for his wrecking of it. Possibly could have first record actually bought, and what I really should have bought if I'd been really trendy and / or musically aware, might have to research that myself.

There's overrated and there's Cullum, Celine Dion, Gloria Estefan and the like who go past overrated and are just an affront to the concept of music. If Bush wants to sort out Al Quaeda he should have the aforementioned played throughout Afghanistan and Pakistan and bin laden and the rest would bayonet themselves to death in a matter of hours!

Hops! Go wash your mouth out! Agree with a lot of what you say (and I would throw Inxs and the Proclaimers into the pot - I used to like them until I started listening to GIO), but you can leave Miss Estefan out of it! She's not only a great singer but a fine looking woman too. She could have my babies.

I would not argue that with you over Coldplay or the any of others for that matter, AFR is spot on re Craig and Charlie Reid also.

There is an indispensable core of artistes that do get a regular airing... I cannot help but suspect this is solely to keep in with the moral majority... so much, for the G.I.O. ethos. I believe it to be more prevalent when Barbara is on the show... Sorry Barbara but Mandi does seem to grant a wider spectrum and no, I am not asking for the Barry Gary Orchestra & the Captain Scarlet Theme...

Sorry to disappoint - blasting days are over.

Adam+frpm_rio I would agree that Estefan is a fine looking woman and also the babies thing, and even that she has a good voice, but her records are dire. Let's be honest there are many fine voices out there but very few are used well. As for the procalimers, I will admist a soft spot for them, but they are overplayed. Anyway I see that they are re-recoding 'I Hava a Dream' this afternoon and I think that's like a proclaimers song, if you only hear it every so often, and at the right times it's a belter, hear it too often and it starts to grate.
