Change of theme....

Bryan Burnett | 15:45 UK time, Monday, 1 September 2008

questions.jpgWe've decided to postpone this week's theme of 'the elements' until a later date. With on it's way to New Orleans, I didn't want to be sitting here playing Like A Hurricane by Neil Young while the US coastline is battered by a tropical storm. So many of the songs suggested by fire/air/earth/water would be inappropriate at a time like this.
Instead we are going to go with song titles that are questions for tonight. Suggestions could be Who Pays The Ferryman? What Do You Want To Make Those Eyes At Me For? Or When Will I Be Love. Send them in by blogging or on e-mail and you can call and text after 6pm.
I'll post the rest of this week's revised themes later today...

Adam's Ferry suggestions are "What Goes On?"
"Is Your Love Strong Enough?" (featuring Dave Gilmour)
    "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?"

Ferry also did a version of "Are You Lonesome Tonight?"

I would add Roxy Music "Would You Believe?" (one of my favourite early Roxy tracks)

Roxy's Phil Manzanera also has a track called "¿Que?" and he did an album with John Wetton (it is a terrible album) and had a song called "Have You Seen Her Tonight?"

Roxy Sax man Andy Mackay did a version of "What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted?"

RoxyJohn, Thanks for easing my mind. It's been so long since I've actually heard the song I wasn't certain it was okay for the show, and I wouldn't want to get anyone sacked!

Hi all. I didn't have time for a well-researched list but off the top of my head I think these would be great to hear on tonight's show:

How Much Is That Doggie In The Window - Lita Roza (on the Decca Singles album - sadly she passed away a couple of weeks ago)
    Why - Annie Lennox (mandatory!)
When Will I See You Again - The Three Degrees
    What If - Coldplay
    What's The Frequence, Kenneth - R.E.M.
    Twenty Questions - Beastie Boys
    Question - The Moodie Blues
    Honest Questions - Daniel Bedingfield
I Asked For Water - Howlin' Wolf
If You Asked Me To - Patti Labelle
Where Dit It All Go Wrong? - Oasis
What Am I To You? - Norah Jones

Loads of tracks to choose for tonights theme. Here's just a few that would be good to hear.

Whats Love Got To Do With It - Tina Turner
What Becomes of The Broken Hearted - Jimmy Ruff (definitely not the Westlife version)
Whats New Pussy Cat - Tom Jones
    What's The Frequency - REM

    Will You - Hazel O'Connor

Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad - Moby
Why Does It Always Rain on Me - Travis
Why Do Fools Fall in Love - Frankie Lyle
    Why - Tracy Chapman

Where Are You Tonight - Tom Johnston (dirty dancing theme track)

    Hello.

'Do You Believe in the Westworld?' by Theatre of Hate.

Kirk Brandon in his pre-Spear of Destiny days with a cracker of a track.

This single came out around the time the band were supporting The Clash on a UK tour.

    Quite a double bill.

    Cheers.

    Raymie in Consett.

    Questions in the title -

What am I doing hanging round?, The Monkees

What have I done to deserve this ?- The Pet Shop Boys

Who needs sleep? - Barenaked Ladies

Is Vic there? - Department S

16 miles - Boo Hewerdine - there are lots of questions in the lyrics.

I suppose Have You Ever Seen the Rain? is out of the question.

A little judicious editing could have been employed to select inoffensive titles.

After all there's no one left in New Orleans except reporters and the hurricane has been downgraded.

I'm afraid it's the Archers for me tonight.

    Hi Bryan,

You really have to play "Why Couldn't I See?" by Spacemen 3.

Go on! You know you want to.

    Cheers

    Tavares did Whodunnit?

  • Comment number 11.

Manhatten Transfer did Who, What, Where, When

  • Comment number 12.

Heres a website for Colin Hays, for the lady who was just asking about him

  • Comment number 13.

    Bowie "Wild is the Wind"
Hurricane Smith "What Would You Say?"
    Dylan "Hurricane" or "Idiot Wind"
John Mayall's Bluesbreakers "They Call it Stormy Monday"
    "Is That All There Is?"

I can't do a smiley due to the colon involved, but hey....
