Infidelity: "Ernie (The fastest Milkman In The West)". Never a great Benny Hill fan but, even after all these years, the words "Two-Ton Ted from Teddington" still make me chuckle.


Wednesday, Harmonies:

The (unaccompanied) harmony singing on Prelude's version of Neil Young's "After The Goldrush" is beautiful.

I love the London Community Gospel Choir's backing on "Tender" by Blur.

The Doo-Wop genre is perfect for songs for this theme..."Get a Job" - The Silhouettes, "I Wonder Why" - Dion and the Belmonts.

Barbershop? Definitely harmony singing there...afraid I don't know any groups except ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖr Simpson's group The Be-Sharps!

My suggestions for the Infidelity theme is soul classic At the Dark End of the Street. Loads of artists have covered it but I first heard the Otis Reading version and he sang it beautifully. Just a lovely love song about people sneaking around!

Harmonies: How could I have forgotten The Ditty Bops, who are so good at close-harmony singing. I love "Wishful Thinking" - lovely clear voices and quirky lyrics.

This song was never released as a single in the UK (but a hit in the States) and may have been the b-side of 'Without You'. Perhaps someone knows? Not your usual song about fidelity but a really charming track nonetheless.

A single from 1991. Straight to the point when it comes to infidelity but thankfully no rude words. A good one to dance madly around the room to. Singer James Johnston went on to join Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.

Tuesday
Top of the Hit Parade for suffering at the hands of an unfaithful wife has to be Rupert Holmes (probably closely followed by Jim Reeves). He should have sensed that she wasn't Miss Right when he started all that business with the small ads. Talk about rotten luck when he gets to the rendevous only to find his boring missus waiting for him! To make matters worse, despite discovering shared interests in exotic cocktails, champagne and getting drookit in the rain - shortly afterwards he discovers that she's having an affair with Him! And gallous with it. Leaving his fags lying around the place. Mind you, it hard to feel sorry for Rupert, as in spite of the evidence he is still willing to stay with her if she decides to give Him up. Dearame!

Thanks Joe and Adam down the Road! I am a bit technically challenged at the best of times so that I assumed it was me! Bad enough watching out for those ampersands!

While I'm here might as well add one in I fordgot about and its Justin Currie from his brilliant solo album and Where Did I Go, fantastic track from a truly exceptional album. Virtually all that lp fits!

Virtually all the tracks that spring to mind are the infidelity our ones.....mmmmm!

Millie Jackson - If Loving You Is Wrong (I Don't Wanna Be Right), and then probably just leave the whole of the Unchained album on, dealing as it does with a web of relationships

Fidelity - if glenmiller's going to mention Old Shep, then surely Half Man Half Biscuit's version of Old Tighe should take precedence. Not only is it from the Peel Session vaults, and therefore guaranteed to be a class piece of work, the band manages to stumble through the song until almost the last minute before collapsing in tears of laughter at the sheer improbability of the ghost dog saves young master returning from the war scenario. Country and western never smelt so bad!

MaxBGold would like to suggest "I'm the man who loves you" by Wilco for the fidelity hour.

MaxBGold agrees that RoxyJohn has made a good call with Bryan Ferry's - Let's stick together.

I think tonight's theme of 'change' is a stroke of genius. Change is essentially what drives us forward in life, so many of the best songs, poems, movies, plays and so on will be about change. So it should be a really great show - I shall be sending in my list!

BB - gonna have to do something about this listen again issue. There are listeners hanging by their fingertips from the highest buildings in the land cause they can't get their GIO fix.

See if you can get the boffins to Change the set up and get it back online.
