Fingers crossed for you, Moo, but I think Erland will have to brush up his skills, as the method he's using in the photo might not work with a human baby. Good luck.

TGMitN, I'll keep my fingers crossed for your longed-for outcome. But why, o why, were you only allowed to peek at the lambs from a distance? Is this some ancient Orkney folklore, that a possibly-pregnant woman can only look at lambs at a distance? How deliciously quaint!
Barney from Swithiod not superstitious
There is a condition inimical to pregnancy which can be caught from pregnant ewes and newborn lambs. Hence no visits to the sheep.
Hyper-Borean from Gray's Anatomy
ooooohhhh this is soooooo exciting. fingers and toes crossed....keep away from the farm and especially the dirty clothes and boots - its a no-go area.
scallowawife from in a state of excitement
Congratulations on your terrific news!

I'll keep everything crossed too. Barney, there is some infection which pregnant women are supposed to avoid that you can get from being around lambing - toxo something or other. You'll be glad I answered, I'm just sooo well informed!

Have you been trying for a while then MOO? Is the world ready for a Moo-Moo Bairn? If it's a boy call him Paul ( good catholic name is Paul) If it's a girl, maybe Mary ( you know after The Virgin Mary) just something to think about. I've got my legs crossed, but that's because I need to go. Good Luck Moo-Moo

Thanks for sharing your news. Springtime (still to come for you) brings all those thoughts and hopes for new life, renewal, and of course, Easter. Here's wishing the very best for you.

All the very best for a safe and uneventful pregnancy, Moo. A little luck and a healthy life style should do the trick. In due course IBloggers will naturally be treated to photos of the baby, provided of course IB is not required to fork out scarce resources for the rights to photos of mother and baby.

Forget it, TWS: you are as old fashioned as I am. I suspect we are going to be treated to "invention," not convention. Forget Sarah, Hannah, Joseph (the old fashioned side-kick of Mary) and Paul. Boy or girl, I would bet a groatie buckie (au naturel - I may have to visit Ronaldsay) that Dounby will not have heard the name before. I could be wrong, but don't hold your breath.

Fingers and toes crossed here for yeh, too! Best wishes for a smoooooth everything! I agree - no common names, I'll bet!
Ecstatic for ewe, I mean you from on t'other side of the world
