Strange clouds the night!

I was walking past the silage pit after checking on the sheep (a lamb had escaped!) and I spotted these amazing clouds!

They remind me of deer or hounds running across the sky!

They made me think of greyhounds. Have you ever seen the logo of the Greyhound Racing Association? It's very cleverly done (I don't agree with dog racing but the dogs themselves are very beautiful).

The clouds are absolutely beautiful and strange. At first glance, they look like snow mountain caps!

Lovely pictures, hard to say what the clouds are without the rest of the sky for comparison, cirrus or possibly high alto-stratus. They seem to have been blown out by the upper winds and turbulence

These are great pics! Really unusual. There is a phenomenon that you sometimes get at this time of year called Noctilucent Clouds - I have seen them once or twice, very very high and shimmery. Wiki article here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Noctilucent_clouds. These clouds in your pics look sort of similar but I dont think they are noctilucent. Superb pics!

Great pictures, but how was it with the lamb?. A sheepfarmer always thinks about the sheep and lambs.

wow how odd they are . I am fascinated by the sky here its always impressing me.

Saw these clouds whilst out birdwatching on Tues night - reminded me of those white horse carvings on southern chalklands! Lovely.

Dag: after patiently waiting for the lamb to do something stupid (and thus allow me to get close) I snatched him and walked him backwards to the gate and was able to put him back in the field. He had been trying to squeeze between the bars of the gate and this allowed me to get a good grip on him!! As for the clouds: Erlend called them "Mares' Tails" which I thought was nifty!
