No more Wooly Ladies

Look...no Wooly Ladies.
I'm quite depressed. Erlend decided that the Wooly Ladies needed to be transferred up to the other farm far away. After all those months of taming and feeding - and then helping lamb! - my Wooly Ladies and now he wanted to take them away!! Who am I going to visit in the middle of the afternoon when I have a few moments before serving dinner??
After some wheedling, and expert brown-eye batting, I did manage to keep Mathilda, Elsie, Ten and Blue-Butt in our Peedie Park so I could have some Wooly Ladies to dote on and enjoy.
**Sigh** Now when I look outside it's so empty. I have four sheep but it's just not the same as having an entire flock running to greet me with happy meys! Bambi Sheep was always the first one at the gate with her hilarious Walt Disney character baah. And how I loved to overturn the empty grain bucket and sit on it and watch the pack of lambs racing up and down the fence line!
I'll get used to it. **Sniffle** But I sure do miss my Wooly Ladies!
(Mathilda is wearing a really cool bell that Dag sent over from Norway! He even wrote her name on the orange collar! She's a styling sheep!)

The site does look quite empty and lonely. It reminded me of a new posting, on the Members Forum, from Chris. She is new, hasn't been able to find a group, and is going through a "desert" experience and asks for our prayers so please pray for Chris.

I have the desert experience every day, and find it quite enjoyable. The Desert Fathers seemed to find living in the desert, and solitude, rewarding. But seriously: There is nothing in catholicism which promises its adherents a rose garden (of course, my religious education may have been defective)... metaphorically or literally.

Mrs. Moo in the Night! Keep in mind that seperating your sheeps from your daily existance can be good - especially when it comes time to butcher. Unless these are wool sheep only? When my folks raised sheep they were all for meat and we weren't allowed to name ANY of the lambs until the winter - when we knew which ones were staying. Same with the steers (beef cows). We ended up naming them Rump Roast and Ribs and Filet Mignon and other funny eating names in the meantime. Hope Orkney and the harrrrrr are treating you well. Alaska is having a rare rainy spell, and it's delayed the spring leaves by two weeks so far. Can you believe we aren't even into spring yet?!?!?!?! Even for AK a mid-May spring is a little much.

We had twa sheep last May. I named them "Dinner" and "Tea". Dinner is in the freezer now. My Wooly Ladys are here to stay! It's their lambs that we sell for meat. Like Shannon said, they won't get names until we know which ones we are going to keep!

Tea ended up being diseased so he wasn't used for human food!

Right: some sheep are like that. They'll do anything to avoid getting eaten. Some folks (bipeds, in feline nomenclature) are the same. Don't ask me why.
