Usually if the weather on the mainland is bad, it's usually good here, and vice-versa, as to the global warming issues that you raised, I'm not sure if all the Scottish Islands will still be above water, what with the Polar Ice-caps melting, and half of Greenlands ice going the same way, some of us might need the shelter of the mainland. Hopefully it won't come to that, at least not until I'm dead and gone. Selfish get that I am !

In that case, let's all strive to prevent the former coming about, in order to not bring about the latter......

I've mentioned this before, mjc, the poles are taking over...... Is hard soil the stuff that occasionally falls out of the bottoms of aeroplanes?

I'm suprised there hasn't been a gaelic word created for smog after being unfortunate enough to have to walk through the cearns(housing project) oposite the western isles hospital on a cold day. Once they all have their fires going it's worse than any walk down a mainland street with it's cars. The sky is always just that little bit more grey over there in the winter. And why is it that the first thing ever asked about in mainland contact is the weather?? My family never believe me when it's been nice because the weather forcast says it was bad......and we all know how often the news weather gets that right don't we !! :-) But i agree, after spending an awful 2 weeks down south last summer i prefer the cooler temperatures here any day, it's just a shame about the midgies!
