I've heard a lot this year about what a terrible summer we've had. Its hardly rained at all here on Whalsay, at least during the day. I'm out walking most of the day, so I think I would have noticed. It has been not so good this last week.I'm convinced we have different weather to the rest of Shetland. Still, off down Sooth next week to see some mega-rain. I usually go down to Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. our old village was on the telly last night in Great British Journeys. 100square miles of non-stop woods, strangely having lived up here I don't miss trees.I find them a bit creepy these days, I prefer the open view. My dog prefers the woods though because she can run around freely. We won the animal section photograph at Voe Show two weeks ago. The PDSA were thinking about using it in their calendar but it turned out that they didn't like the stuffed bear she had in her mouth. Said it could produce intestinal blockages! They then went on to say they'd like to come and photoshoot the dog without the toy. They must think she's some sort of dog model, not a tatty 11 year old mongrel who never stops still! There's nowt as queer as folk as we say in Yorkshire.
