Latest from Molinginish

A while since I last posted.

In the spring we did quite a bit of work on the track from the village up to the Reinigeadal/Urgha track. It seems according to map evidence to be later in construction than the Reinigeadal track - about the early 1900's. It was apparently maintained by the local authority until about the early 1960's. The main need at the outset is to get the blocked drains and culverts running again to let the track dry out. Much of the drainage needed has now been done and there is already a great improvement to be seen.

The photo shows the team toiling up the hill in sleet and snow.

The other photo is an interesting bird's eye view of the village taken this summer.

That's a great bird's eye shot of your beautiful village. Your team did well to do all that work as well, well done! :-)

What a fantastic picture! I'm hoping to come and see it for myself soon.

Nice pic at the bottom. What a spot. Makes me want to just go there.

Sorry it's English here, but my Gaelic is far too rusty to write the following! I've just spent 5 days in Harris (split either side of a trip to St Kilda) and want to say what a great bunch of people I met. My family are from Benbecula, Lewis, Tiree and Coll and I spend a lot of time on various Hebridean Islands, inc. uninhabited ones. Particularly loved Grimisdale B&B (Leverburgh), Treasure Trove (Tarbert) and The Anchorage (Leverburgh). I expected the larger islands to suffer a bit for being larger but they Harris was every bit as welcoming as the smaller islands. Looking forward to coming back.
