.../continued. Go to part 1 | 2

I sang this song to my children when they were little and now to my grandson when he was small and as I look after children I sing it to them even if they’re English.

My daughter, the Spanish one, she’s quite sweet with children. If she has a little baby she’ll probably sing that same lullaby to them. I think it’s good for them to carry on the old songs as well as new ones.

I look after a lot of children, and lullabies seem to work in my opinion – they make them go to sleep.

I learned ‘Duermete Mi Nino’ from my mother in law. When my children were little, she used to sing it to them to get them to sleep. It means:

‘Who do I give this child to if it doesn’t go to sleep? b> Do I give it to the witch, or do I give it to the bad man? b> If I give it to the witch - I give it for a week b> if I give it to the bad man - then for a year.’

That one’s a bit more threatening if they don’t go to sleep. I prefer the sweet ones to the threatening ones.
