Hevia
nominated by CJ Dale, Ipswich:
'Hevia plays his tuneable Austrian pipes with the expertise of the more familiar Davy Spillane on the Uilleann pipes. There are definite likeneses in some of his work to early Afro-Celt Sound System productions, whilst others could have been influenced by Alan Stivell (the occasional Bretton - style massed drumming, perhaps not surprising given the location of Asturias?). One track could have been written by Bill Whelan and would not have been out of place in Riverdance! There are influences from across the Celtic spectrum and even a hint of India and Arabia to boot, masterfully produced by this versatile musician.
And yes, I have bought the album!!'
