Emily Bradbury

Emily's style tends to change regularly. Her current style is ‘vintage industrial’.

1. Who is your style hero?

I couldn’t pinpoint one style hero, many people, Vivienne Westwood and Barbara Hulanicki the founder of Biba, influence me. I absolutely adore The Farnsworth house in Chicago, it’s a brilliant example of Modernism at its best.

2. If you had an unlimited budget to spend on your home what improvements would you make?

That’s the million-dollar question! I would love to add another floor on top of my house, structured out of glass, like a very modern glass box, with an electric opening roof. I would also love to have a living wall in my courtyard.

3. Would you have the room you created in your own home?

Yes I would definitely have most aspects of the kitchen. I was designing for three generations, So I thought the only way I could make the house owners happy, was to put my own heart and soul into it, and follow my passions in the hope that if I deigned something I loved, they would also love it too.

4. What did you learn from taking part in 'Your ³ÉÈË¿ìÊÖ In Their Hands'?

The best part of taking place in the show was demonstrating how to buy off the shelf kitchen units and completely customise them.

5. What is your golden rule when it comes to interior design?

My golden rule would be don’t have any golden rules! It's a good idea not to have too much furniture built-in. I like everything freestanding, therefore you can have an ever-evolving rooms. Also follow your gut and be brave.

6. What is your DIY tool that you just can't live without?

Ah now this is a question I can't answer. I never came in to this show as a DIY person. I am probably one of the clumsiest people I know! Though I did learn to use a drill on the show!

7. What's your biggest DIY disaster?

I don’t think I’ve had anything major, bar a couple of plumbing issues!
