1952: Elizabeth becomes Queen
The Queen has visited Greater Manchester for a "City Day" as part of her Diamond Jubilee tour. She arrived at Manchester's Victoria Station and was met by crowds of well-wishers.
Accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, the Queen's visit began at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital, where the royal couple met staff and patients and listened to a specially commissioned work by musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music.
The Queen's visit to the hospital saw the atrium bedecked with union flags and bunting.
The Queen then headed to Salford Quays and the MediaCityUK complex, where she was shown round the Match of the Day studios before moving on to the 成人快手's Quay House building.
While the Duke of Edinburgh opened the University of Salford's building at MediaCityUK, the Queen was shown 成人快手 Sport's facilities, before officially opening the 成人快手's Quay House building.
Staff at CBeebies gave the Queen a display of puppetry by the characters Hacker T Dog and Dodge T Dog. Hacker said he thought she 鈥渕ight bring the corgis with you", before puppeteers Phil Fletcher and Warrick Brownlow-Pike appeared from beneath the desk to take a bow. "That's very good, isn't it?" the Queen said.
Before leaving MediaCityUK the Queen started the Sport Relief 2012 fun run.
Crowds gathered in Manchester's Albert Square to await the Queen's arrival for her final engagement - a reception from the area's civic leaders in the city's town hall.
The Queen and Prince Philip were met by Manchester's Lord Mayor, Harry Lyons, at the Town Hall.
The royal couple enjoyed a lunch with dignitaries before being shown a special Diamond Jubilee garden, which had been laid out in Albert Square for the visit.
