1952: Elizabeth becomes Queen
A special pageant has been held at Windsor Castle to celebrate the 250 State and Commonwealth visits the Queen has made during her reign. The Queen was accompanied by her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Aimed at taking the audience on a journey round the world in 90 minutes, the pageant included Cook Island dancers.
As well as members of the New Zealand Te Arawa Maori Performers, wielding spears and expressive faces.
Mexican dancers were also among the 800 performers.
Singers, including Indian Raghu Dixit, were watched by other members of the Royal Family, including the Duke of York, Princess Beatrice, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and the Duchess of Cornwall.
Singer Susan Boyle also performed, as did Rolf Harris and Dame Helen Mirren as narrators.
Joss Stone sang for the Queen in the show which will be broadcast on ITV during jubilee celebrations in June.
The show included 554 horses to emphasise the monarch's love of the animals. The stage was a giant replica of Buckingham Palace: 148ft (45m) wide and 85ft (26m) high.
A Canadian Mountie saluted the Queen as she passed by him in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
