Climate action in Scotland

Scotland has a history of coal, gas and oil extraction. Scottish people have a much bigger carbon footprint than people in less wealthy countries.

In 2019, the Scottish Parliament committed to reaching net-zero emissions of greenhouse gases by 2045. The growth of renewable energy is helping reduce our impact, but more action is needed to reach this target.

Yet there is still a lot of improvements we can make to reduce our to the necessary level and protect our local environments and habitats.

Watch this video to find out more about how climate change will affect Scotland, and some of the action being taken to reduce our negative impact on the environment.
